Women's Hoops Hosts Wyoming in MWC Opener

The Falcons return to the Academy to host Wyoming in the Mountain West Conference opener, Wednesday (Dec. 4) at 6:30 p.m. in Clune Arena, USAFA.
THE SERIES
The Falcons and Cowgirls will be meeting for the 54th time in what has become the program's second-longest rivalry behind Colorado State (61 games). Wyoming leads the series all-time series with 51 wins to Air Force's three.

Air Force fell to the 20th-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers, 81-54, Sunday afternoon in Thompson-Boling Arena. The Falcons, now 1-7 on the season, had three double-figure scorers but were unable to keep up with the abundantly tall Lady Vols who remain undefeated in the 2019-20 campaign (7-0).
Riley Snyder posted a game-high 20 point performance against #20 Tennessee, setting a personal season-high scoring mark, falling just two points shy of her career-best mark. Snyder had another perfect night at the free throw line, knocking down 4-4 attempts for her sixth perfect game from the line this season. The native of Fruita, Colorado, also collected six rebounds and added an assist and a steal to her stat line. She has six double-figure scoring performances so far this season.
IMMEL SETS THE STANDARD
Junior co-team captain Kaelin Immel scored a season-high 24 points in the loss at Navy, besting her previous season-high mark of 23 points, set at Northern Colorado (Nov. 7). Immel has two 20-point performances and six double-figure scoring marks on the season. She averages 14.6 PPG this season and has led the squad in scoring in three of the last four games. She is the eighth leading scorer in the MWC and also has the eighth-best FG% (.404) in the league.
CHASING 1,000
Immel continues to climb the all-time career points ladder with 965 points scored to date, a mark that puts her eighth in the Div. I era and 19th in the all-time record book. Immel is on track to become the 16th all-time Falcon to achieve 1,000 career points.
SNYDER SCORES
Sophomore forward Riley Snyder was the Falcons' leading scorer for the first five games of the season. Through said first five games, she averaged 14.0 PPG.
Following a stale four-point production against Portland (Nov. 23), Snyder regained scoring traction during the holiday week, scoring a personal season-high 20 points at No. 20 Tennessee, and dropping 12 points at Navy (Nov. 27), raising her scoring average to 13.3 PPG while notching her sixth double-figure scoring mark of the season. Her performance against the abundantly tall Lady Vols garnered her Air Force Cadet Athlete of the Week honors.
Snyder makes her money at the free throw line where she is currently shooting .926 (25-27) this season, highlighted by six perfect games at the line. She has the second-best free throw shooting-percentage in the MWC.
CRASHING BOARDS
Air Force collects 38.0 RPG as a team, the third-most on average by any MWC team. As a squad, the Falcons lead the MWC in offensive rebounds per game (16.38). Haley Jones is the fourth leading rebounder in the MWC (7.5 RPG) and second-leading offensive rebounder in the league (4.13 ORPG). Conroe has two 10+ rebound performances this season and is fifth in the league in defensive rebounds (4.5 DRPG) and sixth in the league in overall rebounding (7.0 RPG).
JONES IS A PROBLEM
Along with being a top rebounder in the MWC, Haley Jones is fifth in the league in steals with 18 (2.25 SPG) and tied for sixth in the league with eight blocks (1.0 BPG).
