Women's Hoops Hosts Fresno State Wednesday Night

Air Force women's basketball and Fresno State will tip off for the first, and only, regular season meeting of the season at 7 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 20:
Air Force returns home to host Fresno State at 7 p.m. MT, Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Clune Arena. The meeting will mark the first, and only, regular season game between the Falcons and Bulldogs. Fresno State (15-7, 8-3 MWC) is currently sitting at fourth in the MWC standings. Air Force has yet to beat Fresno State in the 13-game series.
THE SERIES WITH FRESNO STATE:
Air Force and Fresno State will be meeting for the 14th time. The Bulldogs are undefeated in the all-time series, 13-0.

SATURDAY, FEB. 23:
Air Force travels to San Jose, California to take on the San Jose State Spartans, 2 p.m. PT, Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Event Center. The Falcons are looking to sweep the seasonal series after downing the Spartans, 88-77, January 26, at USAFA. San Jose State currently sits at 11th in the league (2-21, 1-11 MWC).
AIR FORCE AT A GLANCE:
Three Falcons have three double-figure scoring averages in conference play, led by Kaelin Immel, who registered a career-high 30-point game in the win against San Jose State (Jan. 26). Immel, who averages 13.5 points per game in MWC play, has 15 double-figure scoring performances this year. She shoots .316 from deep and .357 from the field. She averages 14.1 points per game while shooting over .380 from the field and from afar when playing at home.
Emily Conroe, a 5-10 sophomore guard, has stepped up as the team's leading rebounder (6.0 rpg/ 6.5 rpg in MWC), 10th in the Mountain West, since losing Kassady Huffman to a knee injury. Not only is she one of the lead rebounding guards in the conference, she is tied for fourth in the MWC with 1.8 steals per game. Conroe has proven her utility on both sides of the ball with her defensive accolades and 13 double-figure scoring performances highlighted by a 22-point showing in Air Force's first win over Colorado State in 13 games. She led the Falcons in scoring in the last two games, most scoring a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds, coming up just one board short of her third double-double performance this season. Conroe also boasts the best free-throw shooting percentage on the team (.736).
A trio of freshmen help make up the Falcons' top-five leading scorers. Riley Snyder, a six-foot forward, averages 11.1 points per game in league play this season and has 11 double-figure scoring marks highlighted by two 20-point games. Freshman Briana Autrey has the squad's highest field goal shooting percentage (.409), but is still learning how to manage the ball at the collegiate level, as she turns the ball over four-and-a-half turnovers per game. Autrey's offensive productivity outshines her turnovers as she is one-of-two players to have three 20-point performances this season, averaging 9.7 points per game. Haley Jones, a six-foot guard, has become a force for the Falcons in MWC play, averaging 7.3 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game in league play. She shoots .369 from the field and leads the team with 22 steals.
LAST TIME OUT:
Air Force came up short of a fourth-quarter rally, falling to Mountain West foe Utah State, 64-55, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 16) at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, Logan Utah. The Falcons dropped to 8-16 with a 4-9 mark in MWC play while the Aggies snapped a seven-game losing streak to improve to 11-13, 6-7 MWC.
Emily Conroe led the Falcons with a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds, coming up just one board short of her third double-double performance this season. Conroe, the Falcons' leading rebounder in league play, also shot 75.0 percent from deep (3-4) and 58.3 percent from the field. She has 12 double-figure scoring performances this season, eighth in Mountain West play.
Sophomore teammate Kaelin Immel added 13 points to the final tally for her 15th double-digit scoring performance of the season. She also added three rebounds and two assists to her stat line.
The Falcon freshmen made significant contributions as Briana Autrey, Haley Jones and Riley Snyder combined for 20 points. Freshman teammate Coco Kuchins added a career-high seven rebounds, bringing the freshmen rebounding total to 19 on the night. Jones, a six-foot guard, scored nine points and collected four rebounds while Snyder, a six-foot forward, tallied eight points and six rebounds. The Falcons out-rebounded Utah State, 38-32.

THE BULLDOGS' LAST GAME:
Despite trailing for almost 30 minutes of game time and being down 10 early in the fourth quarter, Fresno State outscored New Mexico 28-11 over the final eight minutes and 15 seconds to defeat the Lobos, 77-70, on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 16) at the Save Mart Center. The 'Dogs ended the game on a nine-point run to take back the lead and come out with the victory.
The Bulldogs had five scorers in double figures as senior guard Candice White led the team in scoring with 18 points to go with six rebounds and three assists. Along with White, Aly Gamez dropped 15, Breanne Knishka posted 12, Bree Delaney scored 11 and Genna Ogier had 10. As a team, Fresno State's perimeter defense proved to be a major advantage, holding the Lobos to 11 percent from beyond the arc (2-of-19) and forcing 16 turnovers.
Jaisa Nunn led UNM offensively with 22 points and 16 rebounds, shooting 10-of-12 from free throw line.
LAST TIME THEY PLAYED:
Air Force women's basketball dropped a 64-48 contest at Fresno State in Mountain West action Monday (1/29/2018) at Save Mart Arena. The game was played as a makeup of the Jan. 20 game that was postponed due to the Government shutdown.
Erika Chapman led the Falcons with a season-high 14 points, in addition to four rebounds, three coming on the offensive end. Kaelin Immel followed with 13 points.
Cortney Porter scored nine points and led the team with four assists and three steals. Emily Conroe added seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Fresno State shot 52.3 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three-point range. Aly Gamez led the Bulldogs with 15 points and seven steals. Maddi Utti added 11 points. Air Force did a good job defensively on Candice White, the Mountain West's leading scorer. White was held to nine points, eight below her 17.6 per game average.
