Falcons Back in Conference Play at Nevada
- The Air Force Academy baseball team dips back into Mountain West Conference play with a three game weekend set at Nevada, March 29-31. First pitch for Friday and Saturday is set for 5 p.m. MT, while Sunday will have a 2 p.m. MT start time.
Following Along At Home
- The games against the Wolf Pack can be followed via live stats on Sidearm, as well as via a live stream on the Mountain West Network. All games can also be tracked live on Twitter, @AF_Baseball.
Last Time Out
- The Falcons split a midweek series with the University of the Pacific, dropping the opener, 5-3, while taking the finale, 6-2.
- In the 6-2 win, Air Force got scoreless relief from sophomore Luke Chilcutt (W, 3.1 inn) and junior Shawn Kelley (2.0 inn), while RBI hits from senior Nic Ready (RBI single) and junior Tommy Gillman (2-RBI double) made the difference on the score board.
Trio of Aces
- Three Air Force pitchers have dominated to start the season in seniors Matt Hargreaves and Jake Gilbert, as well as freshman Nathan Price.
- All three own the top three ERAs in the Mountain West Conference with Hargreaves (0.82), Price (1.29), and Gilbert (1.35).
- In addition, all three ERAs are within the top 50 in the country, with Hargreaves ranking 14th
- Price is also top 75 nationally in Hits/9 inn (40th), WHIP (9th), and Walks/9 inn (49th).
Run, Falcons, Run
- The Falcons have been active on the base paths to start the year, having stolen 44 bags so far
- The 44 steals ranks first in the conference and 36th in the country.
- Junior Ashton Easley has 19 swipes to lead the conference, and rank 10th in the nation.
- Against Northern Colorado, March 12, Air Force stole 10 bags, the most in a single game for AF since May 4, 1979.
Trio of Goose Eggs
- Air Force has recorded three shutouts this season, already surpassing its total from last season (2).
- The Falcons are one of just 37 teams with three or more shutouts this season, and the only in the MW Conference.
Don't Run on Dau
- Senior captain catcher Rob Dau has always had a knack for throwing out would-be base stealers, as he has been top-five in the conference in that category all three seasons, including leading the league as a sophomore in 2017. This season, he has thrown out 11 and picked-off seven to lead the league in both categories.
Active Career Leader
- With such a successful career to this point, it shouldn't come as much surprise that senior Nic Ready is among the NCAA active career leaders in multiple categories. The Texas is the active career leader in doubles (67), while ranking second among active players in total bases (462) and RBIs (195), and fifth in home runs (39).
On the Horizon
- Air Force plays its third game against in-state rival Northern Colorado, but the first one in Greeley, Tuesday, April 2. First pitch against the Bears is set for 3 p.m.
