Air Force women’s basketball finalizes the regular-season with an 8-21 overall record, 4-14 in league action
USAF Academy, Colo. - The Air Force women's basketball team fell to Mountain West Conference regular-season champions Boise State, 80-60, Thursday evening in Clune Arena. The Falcons finalize their regular-season slate with an 8-21 overall record, 4-14 in league action, as they prepare to head to the MWC tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Air Force was led by Riley Snyder and Kaelin Immel who scored 13 points apiece. Snyder added five rebounds and two assists to her stat line while Immel added an assist and a steal.
Freshman forward Haley Jones had another strong showing, snagging a game-high 11 rebounds while adding nine points, two blocks and two steals to her stat line. Emily Conroe, who leads the squad in rebounds, picked up seven boards and added six points and an assist to the final tally. She was perfect from the free-throw line as well (2-2).
Marta Hermida led the Broncos with 16 points while teammates Jayde Christopher and Rachel Bowers added 14 and 11, respectively. Bowers snagged up a team-high eight rebounds.
The Falcons and Broncos were knotted with 36 rebounds each, but the Boise State bench added 31 points to the score sheet while the Air Force bench was good for 11. Noelle Tomes, who shot 4-7 from the field, scored eight points and collected two rebounds of the Falcons' bench. Air Force shot over its season average, knocking down 24-60 shots from the field (40.0%).
Up next, the Falcons will make a quick turn back to the road as Air Force travels to Las Vegas to compete in the Mountain West Conference tournament, hosted by UNLV, beginning Sunday, March 10. The Falcons will play in game two as the No. 10-seed against No. 7-seed San Diego State who downed Nevada to take the seed earlier Thursday night. Game two is slated for a 4:30 PT start in the Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.
