
Falcons Impact Record Book in Regular-Season Finale

Parker Spearman accounted for the third-best javelin distance in program history at 224'0".
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force track and field team accounted for four improvements to the Academy record book on Friday, May 3, as it closed out the regular season hosting its annual Twilight Open at the Academy's Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex. In addition to impacting the all-time standings in four events, the squad combined for 12 first-place finishes.
Junior Parker Spearman unleashed the third-best javelin throw in Academy history (224'0"), while classmate Terrell Bradford and senior Micah Fontaine accounted for the program's fourth-fastest marks in the 100-meter dash (10.52) and 110-meter hurdles (14.01), respectively. Sophomore Greg Skage recorded a pole vault clearance of 17'5½" to debut in 10th on the Academy's all-time standings.
Spearman, Bradford and Skage were three of the 10 event winners for the Air Force men, while Fontaine was one of two Falcons to earn the top collegiate finish after finishing second overall.
Bettering the field by nearly 21 feet, Spearman paced the Falcons to three of the top-five finishes in the javelin, as classmate Bailey Ishler (third, 193'10") and senior Logan Feasline (fifth, 189'5") both placed within the top-half of the field. Bradford and Skage also led Air Force to strong finishes among the top-half of their event standings. The Falcons claimed five of the top-six finishes in the 100-meter dash (13 total competitors), as senior Miguel Molas (10.67), classmate Reece Pontious (10.69), junior George Brown (10.80) and freshman Carter Kuehl (10.92) used career-best marks to finish 3-4-5-6 behind Bradford. Skage led the Falcons to the top four collegiate heights – and four of the top-five finishes overall – in the 14-competitor pole vault. Senior Sam Hinegardner recorded his first career 17-foot clearance (17'1½") to take third, while junior Logan Grizzle and freshman Ethan Gardner finished fourth (16'1¾") and fifth (15'7¾"), respectively.
Freshman Lashawn Taylor picked up a pair of first-place marks in his debut at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex, as he recorded a career-best distance of 22'6½" to win the long jump and a personal-best mark of 46'8¼" to lead Air Force to a 1-2 finish in the triple jump (sophomore Anthony Davis, career-best 46'1¾").
Freshmen La'akea Aiu (54.93) and Parker Garrison (57.74) collected a 1-2 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, while seniors Preston Roche (1:52.99) and Gordon Kowalkowski (1:53.03) earned the same placements in the 800-meter run. Classmate Logan Feasline recorded a distance of 169'8" to lead the Falcons to a sweep of the top-three spots in the discus throw (senior Garrett Coalson: 157'5", freshman Jarod Pankau: career-best 156'9"), while junior Patrick Sullivan posted a time of 3:57.20 to pace a top-three sweep in the 1500-meter run. While senior Noah Riley (3:57.42) and sophomore Scott Johnson (3:58.49) joined Sullivan for the Falcons' 1-2-3 finish, Air Force posted four of the top-five times in the 36-competitor race, as senior Josh Wojciechowski tallied a time of 4:02.95 to finish fifth.
Freshman Sean Geither won the 400-meter dash behind a career-best mark of 48.43, while senior Miguel Molas was the top collegiate finisher – and placed second overall – in the 200-meter dash (21.52). Sophomore Terrell Davis notched a personal-best time of 48.94 to finish third in the 400-meter dash, while Kuehl collected the same placement in the in the 200-meter dash (career-best matching 22.07). Sophomore Addison Brown finished third in the high jump with a clearance of 6'2¾" and Coalson added a fourth-place distance of 47'1¾" in the shot put to round out the Falcons' list of top-five finishers.
On the women's side, junior Megan Irvine and senior Aryn Maxwell won their respective 400-meter events, as Irvine posted a 55.42 to win the dash and Maxwell clocked a time of 1:02.63 to take first in the hurdles. Air Force also accounted for the top collegiate finishes in three additional events, as junior Sierra Rodriguez (discus throw, career-best 147'9"), classmate Ashley Cameron (100-meter hurdles, season-best 15.06) and freshman Ari Martinez (high jump, 5'5") all earned runner-up finishes in their events.
Sophomore Kathleen Medill joined Martinez among the top-three of the high jump standings, as she finished third in the nine-jumper field behind a matching clearance of 5'5". The Falcons also earned two of the top-three finishes in the hammer throw, with fellow sophomores Borer and Carbiener finishing second (career-best 157'0") and third (season-best 155'0"), respectively. Senior Andrea Abel earned a runner-up finish in her final triple jump at the Cadet Outdoor Track Complex (37'6½"), while freshman Sydney Hansen posted a career-best time of 4:58.71 to earn runner-up honors in the 1500-meter run.
Hansen was one of three Falcons to place within the top-10 of the 18-runner event, as classmate Andi Almodovar and sophomore Shay Stayton finished seventh (debut 5:07.06) and eighth (5:07.64), respectively. Freshman Heidi Liles cleared 11'0¾" to finish fourth out of 12 competitors in the pole vault, while sophomore Aubrey Ridgeway posted a season-best 25.38 to finish within the top half of the 200-meter dash (25.38) field.
With the regular-season complete, Air Force turns its attention to the Championship season. The Falcons travel to Clovis, Calif., next weekend (May 8-11) for the 2019 Mountain West Outdoor Championships.
