Air Force Wraps up Action at Potts Invitational

The men picked up an event title in the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday.
BOULDER, Colo. – Backed by two first-place finishes, the Air Force track and field team collected 26 top-10 finishes this afternoon (Jan. 11), as it wrapped up competition at the Potts Indoor Invitational in Boulder. The men's 400-meter lineup accounted for four top-10 marks, while the 800-meter roster added three more.
Senior Michael Rhoads anchored juniors Zachary Dicken, Terrell Davis and Luke Zuluaga to a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet combined for a time of 3:15.19. Sophomore Charles Dimnwaobi also earned a first-place mark on the day, as he posted a time of 6.81 to finish first in the 36-sprinter 60-meter preliminary heat.
In addition to running on the winning relay, Davis and Zuluaga led a quartet of top-10 finishers in the 400-meter dash. The pair finished seventh (49.27) and eighth (49.55), respectively, in the event, while sophomore Sean Geither finished ninth in a time of 49.97 and classmate La'akea Aiu rounded out the top-10 with a time of 50.47.
Backed by junior Aric Kedge's fourth-place time of 1:55.53, Air Force accounted for three top-10 marks in the 800-meter run. Freshman Aden Baughman clocked a seventh-place time of 1:56.68, while junior Konrad Steck crossed the finish line in a time of 1:58.41 to take ninth. Freshmen Aiden Boyle and Ryan Johnson claimed for top-10 times in the mile, as the pair finished ninth (4:27.34) and 10th (4:27.38), respectively, in the 38-runner event.
Sophomore Carter Kuehl, who joined Dimnwaobi in the top-10 of the 60-meter preliminary (ninth, 7.05), added an eighth-place time of 22.30 in the 200-meter dash, while freshman Cameron finished fifth in the prelim (8.20) and eighth in the final (8.68) of the 60-meter hurdles.
In the only field event contested today at Colorado's Indoor Practice Facility, freshman Jaret Prete recorded a sixth-place distance of 46'2¾" and classmate Kelby Bailey added a ninth-place throw of 42'0¾".
On the women's side, sophomore Brid O'Connell and junior Mahala Norris picked up the Falcons' top finishes, as they collected fifth-place times in the 400-meter dash (59.29) and 800-meter run (5:07.88), respectively. Senior Kelsey Owens (seventh, 25.76) and sophomore Grace Proesch (ninth, 26.07), who posted top-10 marks in the 200-meter dash, joined O'Connell and junior Aubrey Ridgeway in the 4x400-meter relay that finished third in a time of 3:55.15.
Freshmen Stephanie Gregerson and Cat Cavinder finished ninth (2:28.62) and 10th (2:31.54), respectively, in the 800-meter run, while sophomore Andi Almodovar clocked a 10th-place time of 11:03.41 in the 3000-meter run.
The Falcons return to the Academy next week to host the annual Air Force Invitational on Jan. 16-18.
