This Week - Air Force (6-10-4, 6-6-4 AHA) hosts Niagara (4-12-4, 4-6-4 AHA) for a two-game Atlantic Hockey Association series, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 17-18, at the Cadet Ice Arena. Friday's game starts at 7:05 pm MT while Saturday's faceoff is at 5:05 pm MT.

Scouting Niagara - Niagara, picked to finish second in the AHA in the preseason coaches' poll, ended Air Force's season in the conference quarterfinals last season at the Cadet Ice Arena. This season, Niagara is 4-12-4 overall and 4-6-4 in the conference. After defeating Air Force 4-3 in overtime in Niagara, Nov. 29, the Purple Eagles are 0-4-3. Ryan Naumovski leads the team with 11 assists and 12 points. Jack Billings leads the team with six goals. Junior Brian Wilson and freshman Chad Veltri have split time in goals. Wilson has a 2.44 GAA and a .924 saves percentage. Veltri has a 2.71 GAA and a .911 saves percentage. The goalies have each started twice in the last four games.
Series vs. Niagara - Air Force and Niagara have played 76 times and the Purple Eagles hold a 39-31-6 lead in the series that began in 1996 when both teams were independents. As AHA rivals, AF has a 20-12-3 lead in the series. From 1999-2000 to 2005-06, both teams were in College Hockey America and played 31 times. Niagara held a 22-6-3 advantage. Since the 2010-11 season, the teams have both been members of Atlantic Hockey.
Niagara has a four-game unbeaten streak (0-3-1) against the Falcons and is 4-1-1 against Air Force in the last six games.
Earlier this season, the teams played to back-to-back overtime games in Niagara. NU won the first game, 4-3 in overtime. The second game ended in a 1-1 overtime tie, but Air Force earned the extra point in the standings by scoring in the 3-on-3 session. Last season, the teams played four times at the Academy and Niagara won three. The teams split a series at the Academy, in October. Niagara then swept Air Force, 3-2 OT and 5-4, in the AHA Quarterfinals to end Air Force's season.
