Ethan Esval and Noah Everett accounted for top-five finishes.
BERKELEY, Calif. – The 11th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team wrapped up a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matchup against second-ranked Stanford and 10th-ranked California this evening (Jan. 18) at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley. Sophomore Noah Everett and junior Ethan Esval accounted for top-five scores on Saturday, as the Falcons (369.400) finished third to the Cardinal (401.850) and Bears (385.700).
Air Force's originally-scheduled dual meet with Cal was expanded to a tri-meet on Friday, when the winter storm that's hitting the Midwest prevented Stanford from traveling to Chicago for the Windy City Classic.
Everett posted a 13.250 to finish fourth on the pommel horse, while Esval registered a 12.950 to place fifth on the parallel bars. The junior also accounted for a team-leading 13.150 on the still rings to finish 10th, while classmate Frankie Valentin posted team-high marks on the vault (13.900, seventh) and high bar (12.000, ninth). Fellow junior Scott McMurray rounded out the Falcons' list of leading scorers, as he tallied a 13.000 to finish 12th on the floor exercise.
The Falcons are off from competition until Saturday, Feb. 1, when they host Penn State at the Academy.
