Scouting Army - Army (13-7-1 overall and 10-5-1 AHA) is in second place in the conference. Last week, the Black Knights played in the Fortress Invitational in Las Vegas (same tournament Air Force played in last season) and fell to a pair of top 15 teams. After a 3-1 loss to No. 14 Providence, Army lost to No. 6 Ohio State, 2-1 in overtime, in the consolation game. Senior Dominic Franco leads the team with 16 points. Senior Michael Wilson leads Army with seven goals. Junior Tevin Kozlowski has played nearly every minute in goal and has a 2.13 GAA and a .914 saves percentage. Army's penalty kill leads the AHA and is fifth in the nation at 91.1 percent.
Series vs. Army - Air Force leads the all-time series vs. Army, 45-24-8. The teams played four times last season and Air Force went 2-0-2 against the Black Knights.
Air Force swept the series at Army by identical 4-2 scores, Nov. 2-3. The teams skated to back-to-back 2-2 overtime ties at Air Force, Jan. 11-12. Over the last three seasons, Air Force is 8-4-2 against Army. In Atlantic Hockey games (since 2006-07), Air Force leads the series, 22-9-6 (including playoffs). Since becoming the Falcons' coach in 1997, Serratore is 34-15-7 (68 percent) vs. the Black Knights. In games played at Army, AF leads the series, 19-15-3. The Falcons have won three straight and five of the last six at Tate Rink.
Note: There has always been a discrepancy in the series records according to Army and Air Force. In 1969, AF's first season of varsity hockey, the Falcons and Black Knights played twice in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Army won by scores of 12-4 and 8-0. The games are reflected in Army's series record (26-45-8 vs. AF), but have not been counted by Air Force (45-24-8 vs. Army). According to Air Force records, the games were considered exhibition games and were not on the team's original schedule or final results that season.
