Amber Boll Leads Women’s Gymnastics with Top Finish on the Beam

Air Force women’s gymnastics finished with a 193.250 and season-high 49.025 on the beam
USAF ACADEMY - Freshman Amber Boll led the Falcons with a first-place finish on the balance beam, helping the team to a season-high score in the event, Saturday afternoon in Cadet West Gym. Air Force posted a 193.250 team score for a second-place finish behind UC Davis (195.475) and ahead of Wisconsin-Whitewater (192.700).
VAULT - 47.975
Air Force opened tri-meet action on the vault where senior team captain Anna Salamone led the Falcons with a 9.750 and tie for fourth place. Jessica Kirkpatrick posted a 9.650 for a two-way tie at ninth place. Grace Bardes (9.550), Amber Boll (9.525) and Brooke Bruder (9.500) finished 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively. Lauren Miller posted an exhibition score of 9.375.
UC Davis finished first in the event with a 48.800 behind Logan Clagg and Cortney Cunningham's two-way tie for first with 9.800. UW-Whitewater finished second with a 48.075 and Air Force placed third with a 47.975.
UNEVEN BARS - 48.200
Air Force's next event of the Pink Meet was the bars where Boll led Air Force with a 9.775 and sixth-place finish. Salamone had the next best score for the Falcons with a 9.700 and eighth-place finish while teammate Pixie Brock finished tied for ninth with a 9.675. Other Falcons to post scores in the event were Bardes (9.650, 11th), Miller (9.400, 14th) and Kirkpatrick (8.550, 17th).
Air Force finished second in the event with a 48.200 while UC Davis claimed first with a 49.150 and the top-five finishes. Whitewater finished third with 47.650.
BALANCE BEAM - 49.025*
The Falcons' shining moment came on the balance beam where three gymnasts posted career-high marks, helping the team to a season-best team score in the event. Boll won first-place for the first time in her collegiate career with a career-high 9.900. Briona Carswell posted a stellar 9.875 for a second-place finish. Val Smith and Cameo Stapleton recorded personal-best marks with a 9.825 and 9.800 for fifth and sixth-place, respectively. Brock posted a 9.625 for a two-way tie at 14th and Heidi Sand placed in a tie for 16th with a 9.550.
UC Davis finished second with a 48.925 and Whitewater finished third with a 48.575.
FLOOR EXERCISE - 48.050
The Falcons wrapped up Pink Meet action on the floor exercise where Carswell scored a personal-best 9.750 to finish in a two-way tie for fourth place. Bruder and Natalie Meyer scored 9.675 each to finish in a three-way tie for third while Stapleton posted a 9.625 for a tie at 11th-place. Brock and Sand finished 15th and 16th with 9.325 and 8.925, respectively.
UC Davis finished first with a 48.600 ahead of UW Whitewater (48.400) and Air Force (48.050).
UC Davis had the top-three finishes in the all-around with Gabby Landess taking the top spot (39.250), Logan Clagg finishing second (39.125) and Camille Johnson taking third (38.925). Air Force did not compete in the all-around.
Next up, The Falcons hit the road for dual action with Texas Woman's University on Sunday, February 23rd, in Kitty Magee Arena, Denton, Texas. The Falcons and Pioneers will begin action at 2 p.m. CT. TWU boasts a season-high team score of 195.325 and has scored 195+ in their last two meets.
