Air Force Women’s Gymnastics Drops Dual at TWU

Air Force scored a 192.175, coming up short of Texas Woman’s University’s 194.125
DENTON, Texas - Air Force came up short against the Texas Woman's University in a Sunday afternoon dual, scoring a 192.175 to the Pioneers' 194.125 in Kitty Magee Arena. The Falcons' highest team score was on the floor exercise where they posted a 48.800.
UNEVEN BARS
Air Force opened action on the uneven bars where Anna Salamone led the way with a 9.825 for a first-place finish. Freshman teammate Amber Boll posted a 9.650 for a fourth-place finish while Grace Bardes (9.600), Pixie Brock (9.500) and Daija Stevenson (9.050) finished sixth, eighth and ninth, respectively. Air Force outscored TWU in the event, 47.625 to 47.450.
VAULT
Heidi Sand led the Falcons on the vault where she scored a 9.775 for a fourth-place finish. Salamone finished tied for fifth with a 9.750 and Bardes finished seventh with a 9.700, tying her career-best mark. Brooke Bruder (9.575), Lauren miller (9.550) and Amber Boll (9.525) finished 10th, 11th and 12th. TWU took the event with a 48.850 behind Daisy Woodring's 9.825 and first-place finish. The Falcons posted a 48.350 in the event.
FLOOR EXERCISE
Sophomore Natalie Meyer led Air Force in its third event, scoring a 9.850 to tie for first with while tying her career-high mark in the event. Pixie Brock and Heidi Sand had the next best finishes, scoring 9.750 to finish in a two-way tie for fifth place. The score marked a season-high for Sand. Teammates Cameo Stapleton and Brooke Bruder finished right behind with a pair of 9.725 scores and a tie for seventh-place. The Falcons and Pioneers broke even in the event, scoring 48.800 each.
BALANCE BEAM
Air Force posted a 47.400 in their final event of the day, led by Briona Carswell's 9.775 and fifth-place finish. Val Smith finished sixth-pace right behind Carswell with a 9.725. Stapleton (9.525), Boll (9.200), Brock (9.175) and Sand (8.575) finished eighth, 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively. TWU posted an impressive 49.025 with the top-four finishes in the event.
The Falcons did not have a gymnast compete in the all-around race. TWU's Bria Northrop scored a 39.100 on the day.
Next up, Air Force returns home for the final home meet of the season in a dual meet with Eastern Michigan, Saturday, February 23, in Cadet West Gym, USAFA. A pair of Air Force seniors will be honored for Senior Night, prior to the event slated for a 6 p.m. MT start.
