Air Force women’s gymnastics came up short in dual action, falling to Eastern Michigan, 192.575-194.700
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force came up short in dual action against Eastern Michigan on Senior Night, 194.700-192.575, Saturday evening in Cadet West Gym, USAFA. Freshman Amber Boll led the Falcons with two first-place finishes on the evening.
VAULT (47.750)
Anna Salamone, one of the evening's senior honorees, led Air Force on the vault with a 9.700 and two-way tie for second-place. Eastern Michigan's Karalyn Roberts took first-place with a 9.725, helping the Eagles to a 48.425 in the event. Air Force's Heidi Sand finished seventh (9.600) and Daija Stevenson and Jessica Kirkpatrick finished eighth and ninth respectively.
UNEVEN BARS (48.175)
Boll posted a career-best 9.825 in Air Force's second event, finishing in a three-way tie first-place while leading the Falcons to a 48.175 in team score in the event. Stevenson finished fifth in the event while teammates Pixie Brock and Cam Barber finished tied for sixth with 9.675 marks. The Eagles took first in the event with a 48.525.
BALANCE BEAM (47.775)
Boll continued to hit the high mark in the next event, posting a 9.825 for a two-way tie for first. Air Force's next highest score was freshman teammate Briona Carswell who finished in a two-way tie for fourth-place with a 9.750. The Eagles outscored the Falcons in the event, 48.800 to 47.775.
FLOOR EXERCISE (48.875)
The Falcons posted their best team score on the floor, scoring a 48.875 to tie the team's season-high mark, led by Natalie Meyer (9.850) and Anna Salamone (9.825) who finished third and fourth, respectively, setting new career-best scores in the event. Brock finished fifth with a 9.775 while Sand and Brooke Bruder finished ninth and 11th, respectively. Eastern Michigan took the event with a 48.950.
The Falcons did not have a gymnast compete for an all-around score. The Eagles' Jada Rondeau posted a 39.025 in the all-around.
Next up, Air Force heads to St. Charles, Missouri, to take on Lindenwood with Southeast Missouri in tri-meet action, 6 p.m. CT/5 MT, Friday (March 6), in Robert F. Hyland Arena.
