The senior posted the team's highest marks in three of the six events.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The unique circumstances of holding a virtual meet featured another unusual twist last night (March 19), as the Air Force men's gymnastics team found itself without an opponent when a power outage at Army West Point halted the team competition after one rotation.
Although the Black Knights were unable to finish the meet, the remote-based judges continued to score Air Force, who ended the meet with a combined score of 377.350. Contributing to the squad's total tally was a season-high score of 62.050 on the high bar.
Senior Frankie Valentin paced his teammates in three of the events, scoring season-high marks to earn the top scores on the pommel horse (12.950), still rings (13.150) and high bar (13.000). Classmate Brandon Bzoskie registered the eighth-best vault score in program history (14.400) to lead Air Force in that event, while the freshmen duo of Garrett Braunton and Oliver Zavel rounded out the Falcons' leading scorers on the floor exercise (13.000) and parallel bars (13.400), respectively.
Air Force remains at the Academy next week, when it closes out the regular season with a virtual competition against William & Mary at 5:00 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, March 27.
