Taylor's Triple-Double Not Enough To Rally Falcons In 75-68 Setback To Nevada

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (8-6, 1-2 MW) fell 75-68 to Nevada (8-6, 2-1 MW) Saturday afternoon in Mountain West play at Clune Arena. Freshman Ethan Taylor notched the first triple-double in school history for the Falcons in the setback.
After 11 days from its last game, the Falcons had difficulty finding its shooting stroke for most of the game. Air Force shot 38 percent from the field for the game, but did make a season-high 15 three's.
The Falcons were held to 33 percent shooting from the field in the first half. Air Force did make six three's, but had just a pair of two point field goals to go into the half trailing 34-27.
The Falcons fell behind by as many as 13 points before rallying late. Air Force was able to get within five points several times with under four minutes to play, but Nevada was able to answer with a bucket each time.
Taylor led Air Force with 14 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists for the first-ever triple double in the 66 years of the program.
Senior guard AJ Walker had a team-high 18 points for the Falcons after missing the first game of his career against Colorado State. Walker made a season-high five three's on the night. Joining in double figures was junior forward Nikc Jackson, who scored a season-high 11 points. His three steals and a pair of three's were also season-high's.
Guard Grant Sherfield led Nevada with 21 points and Will Baker came off the bench to add 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons return to action Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Boise State. Tip time is 7 pm MT and the game will be televised by CBS Sports.
