COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Air Force posted its highest team score since the 2019 MPSF Championships, as Air Force's 194.990 was good for second place among the three teams at Sunday's tri-meet.
"I am so proud of this team," said head coach Jennifer Green. "They came out with lots of energy, which is hard to do on a double-weekend."
Briona Carswell posted not only the highest score among the Falcons in 2022, but she rewrote her career-high in the floor exercise following a 9.900. Her performance on the floor was rewarded with a first-place finish. Amber Boll was the top-placer in the uneven bars, scoring a 9.875.
"The bar team is coming into their own," Green added. "A lot of props to (assistant coach) Brittany McClure and their progression".
Genevieve Sabado and Ayla McKean finished first and third in regards to the all-around, managing respective overall totals of 38.825 and 38.325, respectively. Sabado's highest-scoring event was the floor exercise, where she garnered a 9.800, while McKean's floor routine resulted in a 9.850.
Daija Stevenson placed second following her routine on the balance beam, as she was judged for a 9.825. Velandra Brochi placed in one of her three events, sharing third overall in the floor exercise (9.875). Grace Nelson also was among the Falcons to place in her respective apparatus, where was given a 9.800
Aside from the team's overall beam score, Air Force reset new team-highs in the three other events.
"I am so excited about where we are headed," Green said. "Forward focused. We are also grateful for all of the support from our home crowd!"
Next, the Falcons will travel to Sacramento State for a conference dual on Friday, February 4. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm MT.
