SAN JOSE, Calif.- In conference action against San Jose State, Air Force was on unfortunate end of a 195.975-192.450 score.
Along the way, Genevieve Sabado's 9.900 score on the balance beam took home first place among all gymnasts, marking a new personal high.
Sabado becomes the first Falcon score at least a 9.900 on the beam, and is only the fifth-ever Air Force gymnast to manage such a score in in the event in program history. As well, the reigning conference Freshman of the Week shared a fourth-place finish in the floor exericse with a solid 9.825.
Sabado also split third-place honors in the all around with teammate Ayla McKean and San Jose State's Jaudai Lopes.
Velandra Brochi and Briona Carswell were among a high-scoring pool of gymnasts on the beam, as both were among third-place finishers in the event with respective 9.850's. Brochi's score marks a new career-high in the all-arounder's early career.
Next, Air Force has eight days between competition as the Falcons travel to the campus of UC-Davis for the first quad meet of 2022. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm MT on February 20.
