Falcon Lacrosse Falls at No. 12 Denver, 13-9

DENVER – Air Force dropped a 13-9 contest at No. 12 Denver, Saturday afternoon at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The Falcons drop to 0-2 on the season while the Pioneers improve to 2-0 with a pair of wins against ASUN teams.
Air Force senior Brenden Crouse led the offensive charge with a career-best six goals, the most by any player one field. The feat places Crouse in a seven-way tie for single-game goals in the Air Force record book. Crouse notched the first two AF goals and then four-straight for the Falcons within second and third quarters. Crouse took a team-high 12 shots with seven taken on goal. He leads the team with eight goals this season.
Brandon Dodd, Ethan Grandolfo and Aidan Tolen rounded out the scoring for the Falcons with a goal apiece. Grandolfo also tallied a team-high two assists; he has scored a goal in 11-straight games dating back to March of 2021 and has tallied at least a point in 20-of-21 career appearances. Chris Bardak, Tommy Hellman, Christian Marshall and Chase Douglas all tallied an assist apiece.
Air Force junior goalie Jason Rose had a career day at the office, snagging a personal best 18 saves to etch himself in the AF record book in a six-way tie for single-game saves. Rose concluded the game with a .581 save percentage, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
Falcon freshman Cody Gross led the defense with three caused turnovers. Air Force caused seven turnovers on the game. Brian Michael, James Chastain and Grandolfo scooped up a team-high four ground balls each. Michael, Air Force's team captain and leading face off man, won 7-of-22 at the center dot. Teammate Dylan Frankhouser jumped in and won two face offs in four attempts.
Denver was led by JJ Sillstrop and Jack Hannah who scored four and three goals, respectively. The duo combined for 24 shots, 16 on goal. Pioneer face off man Alec Stathakis wont 17-of-26 at the center X. The Denver defense caused 10 AF turnovers.
Next up, Air Force continues action on the road as the Falcons travel to Hamilton, New York, to face off against Colgate for the first time since 1997. Action is slated for 12 p.m. ET at Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium.
