AJ Kedge debuted on the mile's Top 25 - one day after doing the same at 5000 meters.
AMES, Iowa – There may have only been three runners on the track at the Iowa State Classic today (Feb. 12), but the Air Force milers picked up right where their teammates left off last night – making improvements to the Academy's all-time standings. Backed by two Top 25 debuts, the trio wrapped up a successful weekend of competition at the Lied Recreation Center.
Senior AJ Kedge and sophomore Sean Maison both debuted on the Academy's all-time standings in the mile, as they finished within the top half of the 33-runner event. Kedge, who raced to a Top 25 time in the 5000-meter run last night, accounted for the 21st-fastest mile in program history today with a 4:07.18 performance that placed him fifth in his section and 12th overall. Maison, in his first indoor meet of the year, clocked a season-opening time of 4:07.70 to debut at No. 23 on the program's all-time standings, finish eighth in the top section, and place 13th overall.
On the women's side, freshman Sydney Weaber improved her career-best time – and No. 23 placement on the program's all-time list – with a 5:00.81 performance.
The Falcons return to action next Friday (Feb. 18), when they host the Air Force Collegiate Open at the Cadet Field House. The meet will serve as a final tune-up before the conference championship meet.
