Falcons to Host Air Force Collegiate Open

The final home meet of the indoor season will take place on Friday, Feb. 18, beginning at 2:00 pm.
The track and field team wraps up the home portion of its indoor season this Friday (Feb. 18), when it hosts the Air Force Collegiate Open at the Academy's Cadet Field House. The meet, which will serve as a final tune-up before the upcoming conference meet, is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. (MT).

WELCOME BACK
Fans are invited back to Air Force Track and Field meets, but current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must also wear masks outside on military installations.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
2:00 p.m.: Women's Weight Throw, followed by Men's Weight Throw, Women's Shot Put, Men's Shot Put; 3:00 p.m.: Men's Pole Vault, followed by Women's Pole Vault; 4:00 p.m.: Women's High Jump, followed by Men's High Jump; 4:00 p.m.: Women's Long Jump, followed by Women's Triple Jump; 4:00 p.m.: Men's Long Jump, followed by Men's Triple Jump; 5:00 p.m.: Mile Run, 60-Meter Hurdles, 400-Meter Dash, 60-Meter Dash, 800-Meter Run, 200-Meter Dash, 5000-Meter Run (women compete first in all running events)
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
A pair of Falcons are ranked among the nation's Top 30 in this week's TFRRS standings, with Sam Gilman holding a pair of placements within the top 25. Gilman is listed ninth in the 5000-meter standings (13:25.17) and 22nd in the 3000-meter run (7:47.93), while Wyatt Murphy is ranked 28th in the heptathlon with a 5442-point tally.
SQUAD GOALS
With a combined clearance of 27'0", the high jump quartet of Collin Schulz, Jake Hall, Philip Hundl and Jalan Rivers is ranked eighth on the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings – which are determined by the cumulative season-best marks from a team's top-four athletes on the national descending order list. Air Force has three other squads listed in the Top 20, including the 5000-meter run (No. 11 – Sam Gilman, Will Kitzhaber, Ryan Johnson, Ethan Marshall: 55:28.61), 3000-meter run (No. 12 – Gilman, Luke Combs, Ryan Ioanidis, Eli Bennett: 31:44.51) and pole vault (No. 18 – Caiden Macktinger, Ethan Gardner, Robert Postell, Ryan Brown – 65'2¾").
COMING UP
The indoor championship season begins next week, when the Falcons travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the 2022 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day competition, which begins on Thursday, Feb. 23 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 25, will be held at the ABQ Convention Center.
