Falcons take down Hornets on Senior Night

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- On the night of celebration to honor its five-woman senior class, Air Force bested MPSF foe Sacramento State 194.200-193.625 inside Cadet West Gym.
The Falcons managed a season-high 48.500 in the vault, with Ayla McKean leading the way with a 9.750. She placed third among all gymnasts in the event. Along the way, McKean took first-place honors on the uneven bars, as her 9.800 led all competitors. The superstar freshman took home third place honors in the all-around following a 38.350 overall total.
Genevieve Sabado and Daija Stevenson shared top marks in the floor exercise with Sacramento State's Amber Koeth, as all three gymnasts posted scores of 9.800. Sabado also finished in first place in the floor exericse (9.825) and the all-around (39.025). The two-time MPSF Freshman of the Week also finished in a share of second place on the uneven bars with 9.800, while Amber Boll was judged for an identical score.
As well, Boll's 9.725 on the vault garnered a fourth-place finish alongside teammate Gabriella Meccia, whose work on the vault resulted in a new career-high in the event.
Air Force saw its gymnasts claim at least a share of second place in three of the four events, with Falcons owning the podium on the floor and the uneven bars.
Next, the Falcons travel to Denver to face off with the 11th-ranked Pioneers on Sunday, February 27. The event is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm MT.
