BUFFALO, N.Y. –Alex Schilling made 39 saves and Will Gavin netted the game-winner in overtime for a 3-2 win over Canisius in an Atlantic Hockey Association game Saturday, Feb. 5, at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, N.Y. Air Force (11-13-2, 9-9-2 AHA) drew first blood as Will Gavin scored at 11:38 of the first period. Parker Brown won a puck in the corner and Clayton Cosentino sent one through the slot that was redirected by Gavin.
Canisius (13-11-3, 10-8-2 AHA) tied the game midway through the second period on the rush as David Melaragni scored from Keaton Mastrodonato at 11:22. The Falcons regained the lead late in the second as freshman Andrew DeCarlo scored his second of the season. The Griffs tied the game late in the third as Simon Gravel scored on the rush at 16:08. Canisius outshot Air Force, 20-2, in the third period, but the game headed into overtime as Schilling made 19 saves in the period.

"Give Canisius a lot of credit. They played so hard all weekend," head coach Frank Serratore said. "Alex Schilling played as good as he has all season. There were times when the game got really chaotic and he found a way to get it done. I'm really proud of the guys and of our senior captain (Schilling). We needed to get points tonight and we did. In overtime, the right guy had the puck on his stick and Will Gavin doesn't miss very many of those."
Canisius outshot Air Force, 41-22, in the game. Air Force was 0-for-2 on the power play and killed all the Griff advantages. Jacob Barczewski made 19 saves.
Air Force returns home for a two-game series against Holy Cross, Feb. 11-12, at the Cadet Ice Arena.
