Javelin Throwers Pace Falcons on Day 1 of Outdoor Opener

Alexxis Brown posted an Air Force Top 25 throw in the women's javelin, while the men went 1-2-3.
BOULDER, Colo. – Backed by an event title and an Air Force Top 25 distance, a pair of javelin throwers led a small contingent of field event athletes this afternoon (March 18), as the Falcons kicked off the outdoor season with the opening day of action at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder.
AIR FORCE FIRST-PLACE FINISHES
Men's Javelin Throw: Teagun Glenn, 186'6"
Sophomore Teagun Glenn earned the Falcons' first first-place finish of the outdoor campaign, as he won the javelin throw with a season-opening distance of 186'6". The Falcons dominated the top of the event standings, as Glenn paced Air Force to a 1-2-3 sweep – and five of the top six – in the 10-thrower field. Senior Nick Oesterling placed second (183'9") in his first meet of the year, while sophomore Keith Oswald posted a third-place distance of 178'5" in his collegiate debut. Senior Jarod Pankau added a fifth-place distance of 169'1", while sophomore Gerrit Tamminga rounded out the Falcons' lineup with a sixth-place event debut of 154'6".
On the women's side, sophomore Alexxis Brown recorded a career-best distance of 128'4" to finish second in the nine-competitor javelin event and move into No. 21 on the Academy's all-time standings.
Two other events were contested at Potts Field today, with sophomore Brandon Lindner and junior Jaret Prete both collecting runner-up finishes in their respective competitions. Lindner bounded to a career-best distance of 46'6¾" to take second in the triple jump, while Prete recorded a throw of 186'6" to earn the same placement in his 2022 hammer debut.
The rest of the Falcons' track and field team will head to Boulder tomorrow (March 19) to wrap up action at the Jerry Quiller Classic. Action is slated to begin at 11:05 a.m. (MT).
