
Falcons Set for USAG Collegiate Nationals

The two-day meet will be held at Navy's Halsey Field House on March 25-26.
The 11th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team begins postseason competition this weekend, when it travels to Annapolis, Md., for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals. The two-day championship event, back after a two-year hiatus, will feature the team finals on Friday, March 25, and the individual event finals on Saturday, March 26.
MEET INFORMATION
The team and all-around finals for the USAG Varsity Division will take place at 4:00 p.m. (ET) on Friday inside Navy's Halsey Field House and feature teams from Air Force, Navy, Springfield, and William & Mary. The individual event finals, which will take place at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, will include gymnasts from the four USAG Varsity teams, as well as athletes from nine GymACT club programs – Arizona State, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, Minnesota, New York Alliance, Northern Illinois, Rocky Mountain Pride, Temple, and Washington. SCOUTING THE FIELD
Navy is ranked eighth in the NCAA, with a four-score average of 394.017, while Air Force, Springfield and William & Mary round out the national rankings in 11th (384.367), 12th (379.833) and 13th (378.600), respectively. Navy's Josh Williams is ranked second in the nation on the still rings with a four-score mark of 14.217, while the Midshipmen have top-10 team averages in five of the six events.
AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
With a four-score average of 384.367, Air Force is ranked 11th in the latest NCAA standings. The Falcons are listed among the nation's top 10 on the parallel bars (ninth, 64.483), floor exercise (10th, 66.350) and pommel horse (10th, 62.317). Individually, Garrett Braunton is listed among the top 25 on the still rings (21st, 13.467), while Collin Hickey holds a No. 22 placement on the floor exercise (13.700).
RECORDS WERE MADE TO BROKEN
Oliver Zavel posted a new Academy Record on the floor exercise during the Falcons' regular season finale on March 19. Posting a winning score of 14.600, Zavel improved on the previous program standard of 14.550 that Aaron Nubine had held for the past five years. With that tally, Zavel led the Falcons to a new Academy Record team total of 70.750 – a mark that was a half-point improvement over the previous record they set just one week prior.

The Falcons travel to California next week (April 2) for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at Stanford.
