Falcons to compete in MW Championships, April 29-May 1

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team will compete in the Mountain West Championships, Friday-Sunday, April 29-May 1, on the Olympic Course at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. Live stats will be available on www.golfstat.com.
THE FORMAT: Teams will play 18 holes each day on the par 72, 7,115yard course. Air Force will be in the final groups that will play in Friday's first round with the first Falcon tee time at 10:40 off of No. 1.
THE FIELD: Air Force will be joined by Boise State (No. 50), Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada (No. 34), New Mexico (No. 32), San Diego State (No. 51), San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State and Wyoming.
THE LINEUP: Air Force's lineup for the MW Championships is: 1. Isaac Layne; 2. Cameron Kahle; 3. Christopher Park; 4. Aaron Kuznik; 5. Maxwell Heupel.
LAST TIME AT THE MW: Senior Kyle Spencer shot a three-under-par 69 in the final round of the 2021 Mountain West Championships at the Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. Spencer's bogey-free round featured three birdies, including a birdie on his final hole. He finished tied for 28th overall. In the final round, Air Force shot a 297, tying the fourth best round of the season. Along with Spencer's 69, junior Colter Baca shot 74, freshman Aaron Kuznik shot 77 and sophomore Isaac Layne shot 80. For the 54-hole tournament, Kuznik came in at 233, Baca at 235 and Layne at 241. Air Force placed 11th with a 54-hole score of 908. New Mexico and Nevada tied for the team title at 845 (-19), but the Lobos won the title on the first playoff hole. San Diego State and UNLV tied for third at 850 (-14) while Boise State was fifth at 851 (-13).
LAST TIME IN BREMERTON: The Air Force golf team closed out the 2018 season with a 10th place finish at the Mountain West Conference Golf Championships at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. The Falcons shot a three-round, 54-hole team score of 917 with a 305 in round one, followed by a 303 and 309. Air Force finished five strokes ahead of Utah State. UNLV, ranked 24th in the nation, won the team title with an 856 (-4), 11 strokes ahead of Colorado State. Sophomore Anson Kuznik was the top Falcon and tying for 37th overall with a three-round total of 228 (+12). Junior Andy Germann shot a 231, juniors Tate Tatom and Bryant Falconello came in at 233 and sophomore Joshua Wu shot a 236.
RECENTLY: The Air Force golf team placed 13th Ping Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU, April 23, at the Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah. The Falcons were led by a pair of freshmen as Cameron Kahle and Christopher Park each shot 76 on the final day. Kahle was the top Falcon over 54 holes, shooting 227. Park finished a shot back at 228. Sophomore Aaron Kuznik shot 232, followed by junior Isaac Layne at 239 and sophomore Max Heupel at 248. Three Falcons competed as individuals, senior Jonathan Farmer (240), senior Colter Baca (245) and freshman Sam Schuhl, in his first collegiate tournament, (262). The host school, BYU, won the tournament at 832. San Diego was second (839) followed by Colorado State (851) and Washington State with an even par (864).
