
Twenty Falcons Named MW Scholar-Athletes

The Falcons were honored for maintaining a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twenty members of the Air Force track and field team were named Mountain West Scholar-Athletes this afternoon (July 12), as the conference office announced its list for the 2021-22 academic year.
Nine members of the program's latest graduating class – Garrett Blenkush (3.51/aeronautical engineering), Mikayla Gallagher (3.81/astronautical engineering), Sean Geither (3.96/aeronautical engineering), Jenna Kill (3.77/applied mathematics), Will Kitzhaber (3.50/legal studies), Michelle Roca (3.87/biology), Frank Rossi (3.97/applied mathematics), Erika Willis (3.77/biology) and Joseph Wittig (3.95/geospatial science) – led the Falcons' list of honorees, with eight of those cadet-athletes earning Scholar-Athlete honors for the fourth-straight year.
Three juniors (Aidan Boyle: 3.82/management, Niko Fraser: 3.67/biology, Katie Van Havel: 3.68, biology), five sophomores (Brian Hubbard, 3.63/aeronautical engineering, Philip Hundl: 3.68/operations research, Keith Oswald: 3.71/civil engineering, Katie Thompson: 3.78/biochemistry, Rebecca Wusinich: 3.91/legal studies), and three freshmen (Gabe Grim: 3.53/biology, Ally Peterson: 3.59/biology, Jason Renze: 3.78/astronautical engineering) rounded out the Falcons' list of MW Scholar-Athletes.
A conference-record 1,427 student-athletes were named Mountain West Scholar-Athletes – a honor that encompasses all league sports for the 2021-22 academic year. To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters (or three quarters) at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher.
