SEATTLE, Wash.- The first match of Laura Busby's tenure as head coach at Air Force saw her side turn in a scoreless draw with Seattle. The Falcons registered the only two shots on goal over the 90 minutes of play.
"Tonight was a great test for us," said Busby. "It was a physical battle on a tight pitch, and I thought we adjusted well in the second half."
Faith Lee led Air Force with three shots total, though none of her attempts forced action from the Redhawks goalkeeper. Andrea Mosher and Cam Karras were the lone Falcons to manage shots on goal.
Including goalkeeper Cammi Bych, such Falcons as Stella Rubidoux, Jenna Rubidoux, Hannah Johnson, and Cassi Bych all played the available 90 minutes.
Jordi Ives and Caeli Sherman both provided a shot each. The Falcons were credited with seven total attempts at goal.
"Jennifer McFadden did a fantastic job of winning balls in the air and leading our backline," Busby added. "We'll focus on recovery the next two days and prepare for a tough opponent on Sunday."
The Falcons defense did well to turn away the Redhawks, as four Seattle corner kicks in the second half were staved off by Air Force.
Next, Air Force remains in the city of Seattle for a matchup with Washington. The Falcons are scheduled to kickoff with the Huskies on Sunday, August 21 at 2:00 pm MT.
