Falcons Return Home for Invitational at the Peak

The Air Force track and field team returns to the Academy this week, when it hosts the Invitational at the Peak. The meet, which will take place at the Cadet Field House Indoor Track on Friday, Feb. 3, is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. (MT).
MEET INFORMATION
The Invitational at the Peak will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at the Cadet Field House Indoor Track, with the women's weight throw kicking off the day at 11:30 a.m. (MT) – a complete schedule events is listed below. Admission is free and fans must adhere to the Academy's "Clear Bag Policy". Live results will be available via GoAirForceFalcons.com/TrackFieldResults, while in-meet Air Force highlights will be posted on the team's official Twitter accounted (@af_tfxc).
WHO'S WHO
The Invitational at the Peak will include teams from Air Force, Chadron State, Colorado College, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Texas Lutheran, and Wyoming, as well as several unattached athletes.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
11:30 a.m.: Women's Weight Throw, followed by Men's Weight Throw, Women's Shot Put, Men's Shot Put; 11:30 a.m.: Men's Pole Vault, followed by Women's Pole Vault; 11:30 a.m.: Women's Long Jump, followed by Women's Triple Jump; 12:00 p.m.: 60-Meter Hurdles (men's prelim only), followed by 60-Meter Dash (prelim); 12:00 p.m.: Women's High Jump, followed by Men's High Jump; 1:00 p.m.: Mile Run; 1:00 p.m.: Men's Long Jump, followed by Men's Triple Jump; 1:20 p.m.: 400-Meter Dash, 60-Meter Hurdles (final), 60-Meter Dash (final), 800-Meter Run, 200-Meter Dash, 3000-Meter Run (women only), Mile Relay (women compete first in all running events)
SQUAD GOALS
With a combined time of 54:52.78, the men's 5000-meter quartet of Sam Gilman, Eli Bennett, Ryan Johnson, and Sean Maison are ranked second in the 2023 debut of the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings – which are determined by the cumulative season-best marks from a team's top-four athletes on the national descending order list. The men's pole vault lineup of Caiden Macktinger, Ben Charlebois, Connor Munson, and Robert Postell is also listed among the nation's top 10 (No. 10, 65'11"), while quartets from the 60-meter hurdles (No. 12 – Cameron Harris, Darek Hackett, Seth Meador, Philip Hundl: 32.51) and high jump (No. 15 – Jalan Rivers, Gabe Grim, Hundl, Collin Schulz: 26'6") are listed within the top 15.
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Highlighted by top-20 marks in the 5000-meter run from Sam Gilman and Halle Hamilton, three Falcons are listed among the nation's top 30 in the latest TFRRS standings. Gilman is listed 11th in the men's 5000-meter event with a time of 13:25.64, while Hamilton is ranked 19th in the women's event with a career-best time of 15:51.39. Caiden Macktinger is ranked 23rd in the pole vault (17'6½"), while Gilman also holds a top-30 mark in the mile (28th, 3:48.65a).
COMING UP
The Falcons head back out on the road next weekend (Feb. 10-11), splitting for meets at the Don Kirby Invitational (Albuquerque, N.M.) and David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Boston, Mass.).
