CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Air Force put up season best numbers in the 18-6 dismantling of ASUN newcomers Queens University, Saturday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The Falcons are on a three-game winning streak (5-2, 2-0 AUSN) heading into next an early-week matchup with Duke.
Despite Air Force not being known for its sniper corps— sophomore Josh Yago had a career day with five goals on five shots for a 100-percent shot accuracy. Yago finished the day with six points. Falcon star Brandon Dodd took a game-high 10 shots, sinking three goals for his fourth hat trick this season. Wes Peene put up two goals in his third-straight scoring contest and third two-goal performance this season. Ethan Grandolfo was also good for a pair of goals—he has scored in five-of-seven games this season. Senior Josh Tauss put up a career-best two goals in the second half.
Shad Brice, Cooper Rich and Aidan Tolen rounded out the scorers with a goal apiece for Air Force's season-best 18 goals.
Defensively, nine Falcons caused 10-of-28 Queens turnovers, led by Daniel Enoch with two to his credit. The Air Force defense held Jason Rose to a season low two saves on the day.
Air Force team captain Tommy Hellman picked up a game-high five ground balls, testament to his extreme work ethic. The Falcons had their first winning day at the center X with 14 wins in 26 attempts. Dylan Frankhouser won .500 of 12 attempts on the day while Braden gab won five attempts in eight tries.
At the final whistle, Air Force took 39 shots to the Royals' 21 and successfully cleared the ball 22 times in 24 attempts. The Falcons were perfect in extra man opportunities (2-2).
On Monday, the Falcons take on Duke at Koskinen Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. The Falcons have won three of the last five meetings against the perennial powerhouse Blue Devils.
