"We started out slow today and got better and better as the meet went on," head swimming coach Colleen Murphy said. "In the second half of this meet, our team started doing season best times and racing much better."
Four Falcons battled to runner-up finishes across four events. Maeve Linscott clocked 2:19.08 to finish second in the 200 breaststroke— she also finished third in the 100 breaststroke, just ahead of teammate Naomi Furman. Linscott, alongside Kai-Min Tsuei, Amber Martin, and team captain Abby Turner claimed third in the 200 medley relay.
Senior Alex Clark swam to a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (56.55), finishing just ahead of teammate Amber Martin (57.52). Jena Nowoswiat and Abigail Hardy finished third and fourth place, respectively, in the 200 fly. The 400 free relay team comprised of Lily Larson, Alex Clark, Ryan Mills, and Abby Turner claimed third (3:23.71).
The divers had strong performances behind Mountain West Diver of the Week Chloe Perkins and Kacey Hu who finished second on the 1-meter and 3-meter dive, respectively. Air Force had a strong showing on the 3-meter dive with Perkins, Kadyn Macpherson, Annaliese Cundiff, Kacey Hu placing second through fifth, respectively.
"We have two weeks of great training before we head to Wyoming," Murphy continued. "We will work on getting out faster, speed, and doing the little things right."
Next up, Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving will travel to Laramie to take on Wyoming in dual meet action on Saturday, November 2. Action at Laramie High School is slated for 3 p.m. MT.
