Women’s Gymnastics Opens 2025 Season Hosting LIU
1/9/2025 1:12:00 PM | Women's Gymnastics
Air Force Women's Gymnastics returns to action on Friday evening, as the Falcons pick up 2025 competition, hosting Long Island University in dual competition at 7 p.m. MT in Cadet West Gym.
Follow Along:
Friday's season opener will be live streamed on the Mountain West Network and available free of charge; Live scoring will be provided via Virtius; Links to both can be found on the women's gymnastics page on goairforcefalcons.com.
One Team, One Fight:
The 2025 Falcons' competitive season will be underscored by the spirit of their new motto: "OneTeamOneFight." The phrase encapsulates the Falcons' total commitment to unity and resilience. It's not just a rallying cry for the collective success of Air Force in 2025, but a reminder that each athlete's individual battles — whether physical, mental, or emotional — are equally important, and that these personal struggles are not faced in isolation; rather, they serve as a source of strength and inspiration for the entire group.
2024 at a Glance:
Air Force closed 2024 exceptionally strong, finishing at the Mountain West Conference's inaugural championship with a 195.450. Then-freshman Maggie Slife was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and was crowned conference champion in the all-around (39.350) and co-champion on vault (9.825). Three competitors (Slife, Ayla McKean, Clara Wallace) earned All-Mountain West superlatives in 2024: Slife was a first-team selection in the all-around, vault and bars; McKean earned second-team recognition on bars, and Wallace was second team in the all-around.
The Falcons took a massive step forward as a program in their previous season, returning a competitor to an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2019, as Slife became the first Air Force freshman to accomplish the feat since 2015. Air Force was one of two programs to land a pair of USAG First-Team All-Americans in the all-around and stood alone with three total all-arounders named to the list. The Falcons have earned five or more All-American honors in five of the past six seasons.
New Faces:
Air Force sports a freshman class of 12 strong this year, the largest class of Head Coach Jennifer Green's Air Force tenure thus far. Six newcomers are projected to make the Friday lineup for the Falcons – additions which have served to bolster Air Force's depth across all four events.
