
Hedden and Wasik earn AHA Weekly Awards

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Chris Hedden and junior Dominik Wasik both earned Atlantic Hockey America weekly awards for helping lead the Falcons to a sweep at Sacred Heart, Nov. 7-8.
Hedden was named the Defenseman of the Week with three points (2-1-3) in the SHU series. The team captain from Kalamazoo, Mich., also had six shots on goal, blocked seven shots and was a +2. He tied his career high with two goals in the 4-1 win in game one. He also had an assist as he factored in on three of the four goals and matched his career high with four blocks in game one. His power-play goal gave Air Force a 1-0 lead as the Falcons never trailed in the game and his short-handed empty-netter sealed the win. In game two, he blocked three shots.
Wasik was named the Goaltender of the Week as he stopped 63 of 66 shots in the series for a .955 saves percentage and a 1.50 GAA. In game one, he matched his previous career high of 28 saves. The only goal he allowed in the first game was on the power play with 1:40 left in the game that broke up the shutout. The junior from Superior, Colo., set a new career high with 35 saves in game two. He stopped all 16 shots he faced in the second period, allowing the Falcons to come from behind twice for the 3-2 win.
The weekly award for Hedden is the fifth of his career. The weekly award for Wasik is the first of his career. They are the first weekly league awards won by the Falcons this season.
Air Force (5-4-1) hosts first-place Holy Cross in an AHA series, Friday-Saturday, Nov. 14-15, at 7:05 pm MT each night at Cadet Ice Arena.
