Air Force Unable To Overtake Wyoming, In 68-56 Setback

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (3-10, 0-2 MW) fell to Wyoming (10-3, 1-1 MW), 68-56, in Mountain West action Tuesday afternoon at Clune Arena. Junior forward Caleb Walker led the Falcons with 17 points.
Wyoming raced out to a 36-26 lead at the half, taking advantage of 11 Air Force turnovers. The Cowboys scored 20 of its first-half points off the Falcons turnovers.
In the second-half, Air Force ratcheted up the defense, forcing Wyoming to go 1-for-15 from the field to open the half. The Falcons erased Wyoming's lead with a 15-5 opening run to tie the game at 41-41 with 9:44 to play.
The Falcons were unable to take the lead, as Wyoming went on to out-score the Falcons 27-15 the rest of the way out.
Air Force held the MW's top scoring team to 18 points below its 85 ppg average. The Falcons also held the Cowboys to 35.4 percent shooting on the day and just 21 percent in the second half.
Walker shot 7-for-9 from the field and got to the free throw line for seven attempts. He also added five rebounds.
Guard Kam Sanders and forward Eli Robinson also reached double-digits in scoring. Sanders scored 15 points for the Falcons, all in the second half. Sanders got to the line 10 times in the game, making seven. Robinson added 10 points, adding career-high's of five steals and two blocked shots.
Air Force shot 50 percent on the day and dominated inside, holding a 42-14 advantage in points in the paint. Wyoming got to the line 27 times, making 24, good for an 89 percent day from the line. The Cowboys also held a 10-1 advantage in three's made in the game.
Guard Nasir Meyer led Wyoming with 14 points and six assists.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 3 at UNLV. Tip time is 2 pm PT and the game will be streamed on the MW Network.
