Falcons place fourth at PRC Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team, ranked eighth in the nation, finished fourth at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Sunday, Feb. 9, in Fort Wayne, Ind. Air Force shot a 4706 over the two-day event.
Alaska, ranked second in the nation, won the conference title with a 4758. Eighth-ranked Ole Miss was second (4746), followed by No. 5 TCU (4732) in third. No. 10 Nebraska was fifth (4699), No. 12 Ohio State was sixth (4694) and No. 16 UTEP was seventh (4670).
In the smallbore competition on Saturday, Air Force shot a 2337. Alaska won the smallbore with a 2367. Ole Miss was second (2364), TCU was third (2345), Nebraska was fifth (2330), Ohio State was sixth (2328) and UTEP was seventh (2307).
Senior Scott Rockett led the Falcons with a 587 to place 11th in smallbore. Sophomore William Steen shot a career-best 585 to place 16th, followed by Lauren Hurley (584), Victoria Leppert (581), Megan Torrence (579), Lily Wytko (571) and Rushil Punukollu (569).
In Sunday's air rifle competition, Alaska led the way with a 2391, followed by Ole Miss (2382), TCU (2387), Air Force (2369), Nebraska (2369), Ohio State (2366) and UTEP (2363).
Wytko was the top Falcon in air rifle with a 595 to place 12th, followed by in 15th-place Hurley (595), Leppert (590), Rockett (589), Bethany Butler (587), Steen (586), Torrence (583) and Punukollu (574).
Air Force returns to action with a pair of meets at TCU, Feb. 20 and Feb. 22.
