Falcons at a Glance:
Junior Milahnie Perry and Smith both lead Falcon scoring, averaging 15.5 and 14.7 points per game.
Sophomore Jayda McNabb, while also averaging 8.4 points per game, leads Air Force in rebounding, averaging 7.0 (3.7 OFF/G, 3.4 DEF/G). McNabb's 7.0 rebounding average ranks sixth in the Mountain West across all games and second on the offensive glass.
Huntimer's 4.4 assists per game and 2.90 assist/turnover ratio (10th in the nation) both rank second in the Mountain West.
Defensively, Air Force tops the Mountain West in turnovers forced per game (20.11, 31st nationally), turnover margin (+5.89, 26th nationally) and steals per game (10.9, 32nd nationally). Madison Smith, sporting 68 steals on the season and averaging 2.a43 per contest, leads the Mountain West in both categories. Four of Air Force's starting five (Smith, Huntimer, McNabb) rank top seven in steals against the Mountain West with no other program in the league sporting more than one in that range.
In 2024-25 McNabb's 1.13 blocks per game ranks sixth among conference competitors.
A Historic Start...
Air Force opened Mountain West play in 2024-25 at 10-2, marking its first ever 10-win non-conference in Air Force's Division I history and the first such occurrence since the 1991-92 season. Starting 9-1 on the year with just an overtime loss at Army (Nov. 15), Air Force got off to its best ten-game start since Maj. Danny Fowler's 1982-83 Falcons went 12-1. The Falcons opened 6-0 in Clune Arena for the first time since 1985-86, when Air Force started at home with seven-straight wins.
And Historic Finish?
Head coach Stacy McIntyre is one win short of tying the most by a head coach in their first season at Air Force (17), a title currently shared by then-Capt. Chuck Holt (1979-80) and then-Capt. Danny Fowler (1981-82).
A Cool Grand:
Combining for 53 points at San Jose State (Jan. 11), Smith and Perry both eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for their respective careers, becoming the 19th and 20th players to do so in Air Force history, and the fourth-such duo to collectively claim the honor in the same season.
Service Before Self:
Jo Huntimer leads Air Force in total assists (122), while currently sporting the second-best assist average in Mountain West play this season (4.4). 393 career assists currently ranks second in Air Force DI history and sixth all-time (451, Briana Autrey-Thompson, 2018-22) - a spot in the record books secured in the Falcons' win over Milwaukee on Nov. 28 in Puerto Rico.
Rounding into Form:
Through the Falcons' last nine games, sophomore guard Keelie O'Hollarenn is averaging .467 from the field (43-92) and from three-point range (28-60).
Winning Trends:
Air Force has ...
- In winning games held 14 of 16 opponents to less than 70 points;
- Scored more points off of turnovers than opponents in all 16 wins this season;
- Led in the game with five minutes to go in all 16 wins this season (63 consecutive wins in regulation).
Air Force is Undefeated In Clune When...
- Scoring 70 or more points (7-0);
- Out-shooting opponents from the field (5-0).
Last Time Out:
Air Force Women's Basketball built out an 18-point lead over San Diego State behind a blistering first-half performance on both ends of the floor, but the Falcons stalled in the second half and lost its grip, resulting in a 66-63 loss to the Aztecs on Wednesday at Clune Arena.
The Falcons went an even 10-20 (.500) from the three-point line, sinking the most threes faced by San Diego State this season; 11 Air Force steals in the game was one shy of matching an SDSU season high in steals committed on the SDSU in 2024-25.
Reigning Mountain West Player of the Week Madison Smith led all scoring on the floor, finishing with 19 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3FG), 17 of which were earned in the first half; Junior Milahnie Perry added 14 (6-17 FG, 2-3 3FG); Sophomore Keelie O'Hollaren, for the third straight game and fifth in the last six, put up double-digits, finishing with 11, including a crucial three-pointer in the final 30 seconds to keep the Falcons' chances at a win afloat.
The Falcons (16-12, 6-10 MW) got to the SDSU basket early, as a pair of down-low looks for McNabb and a hook shot layup for Smith bought Air Force a lead in the early minutes of the game which they for the majority of the contest. Air Force opened the game 10-14 (.714) from the field and 4-5 (.800) from three-point range in the first quarter, with Smith notching of a pair of contested looks to lead the way. An 11-2 Air Force run put the Falcons up 14-8 at the first under-five media timeout. The Falcons held a 25-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Opening the second, the Falcons forced San Diego State into six-consecutive turnovers on as many possessions for the Aztecs, holding the opposition scoreless and without a field goal attempt for over five minutes of game time. Through that stretch, the Falcons put up 10 unanswered points, extending their lead to 35-18. Air Force and San Diego State exchanged threes down the final seconds of the half, ending in a 43-28 lead heading into the locker room.
After a 43-point first half, the Falcons were held to just 20 in the second, allowing San Diego State to climb out of its deficit. Air Force went 3-13 in the third and were outscored 15-10, but managed to retain a 10-point lead heading into the fourth.
An untimely 15-3 Aztec scoring run to open the fourth quarter eventually tied and gave San Diego State the ultimate lead. SDSU went up by six with 2:36 remaining. Inside the final minute, a Perry floater inside the paint and an O'Hollaren quick-release three-pointer with :28 seconds remaining got the Falcons back within a point of the Aztecs.
After a missed layup for SDSU's Nat Martinez with 13 seconds remaining and subsequent Jayda McNabb rebound, the Falcons took possession with a chance to retake the lead. Perry, advancing the ball and looking for the go-ahead score, saw her attempt blocked by Aztec Jazlen Green with four seconds to go.
Prior to the Falcons' 1 p.m. tip off, Air Force Athletics will honor its two 2025 graduates, Cadets First Class Jo Huntimer and Madison Smith for Senior Day.
