DURHAM, N.H. – In a four-team competition on Sunday afternoon in Durham, it was a race to the top between Air Force Women's Gymnastics and the host New Hampshire Wildcats. The Falcons closed the quad with a second-place, 193.950, beating out Iowa State (192.900) and the University of Bridgeport (191.800) in UNH's Whittemore Center.
Earning at least a share of first place in three of four events on Sunday, standing Mountain West Gymnast of the Year Maggie Slife closed the day with a 39.425 all-around score, besting the field by .125 while tying the third-best all-around finish in Air Force history.
Air Force caught an early lead in competition, opening with an electric, 49.000 collective performance on floor exercise. Sophomore Alyssa Bigler and junior Maggie Slife shined for the Falcons, both scoring a 9.900, marking a new career high for Bigler and Slife's seventh career 9.900 or better on floor. 9.900 proved good for a four-way share of first place.
The Falcons' lead held through vault after scoring a 48.775 – The highest vault score of the day. Slife and Bigler both stuck a Yurchenko one-and-a-half, ending in a second 9.900 for Slife and 9.800 earned by Bigler. Greene matched Bigler's 9.800, marking her third career 9.800 or better on vault. Slife's second 9.900 of the day captured a tie for first with 2025 All-Big 12 selection Haylee Hardin.
On uneven bars, Air Force finished with a 48.450. Slife and senior captain Gabriella Hartley anchored the Falcons, scoring a 9.875 and 9.800, respectively. Slife's finish was good for sole possession of first place, while Hartley tied UNH's Serena Mullin for second.
Air Force and UNH were neck-and-neck heading into the final rotation. On balance beam, Air Force closed with a 47.725, paced by Bigler's second-place 9.850. With Bigler and Slife (9.775) proving the only scores in the top 10, New Hampshire slipped past Air Force in the final event to claim the lead.
Including Slife's all-around title-worthy performance, Air Force completed competition with seven podium finishes.
