2/21/2026 3:42:00 PM | Women's Basketball
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Air Force Women's Basketball trailed by just a single basket at halftime in The Pit against New Mexico, but the Falcons slipped in the second half, ultimately falling 73-53 to the Lobos on Saturday afternoon in Albuquerque.
Senior Emily Adams and junior Jordyn Devaughn both led Falcon scoring, contributing 10 points apiece. Juniors Alexis Cortez and Jayda McNabb followed up, both scoring seven.
Air Force trailed 12-8 at the close of the first quarter. Air Force struggled to find the basket early on but kept New Mexico from finding opportunities at the three-point line. Much of the first quarter was a one-possession game before a Nayli Padilla layup gave UNM a four-point lead.
New Mexico's advantage grew by as much as seven points in the second quarter, but Air Force worked their deficit back to a single point behind back-to-back three-pointers for New Mexico native Bhret Clay. A Lobo 9-2 run at the close of the half got UNM back to a 31-25 lead, but Air Force junior Jordyn Devaughn floated a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to pull the Falcons back within three points at 31-28.
New Mexico outscored Air Force 18-6 in the third quarter to build a 49-34 lead. UNM's lead inflated to 20 points at the start of the fourth. From there, Air Force ground out an 8-0 run, leaving the Falcons down 56-44 with 4:19 left. The Lobos answered with an 11-0 streak of their own and outscored Air Force 17-9 the rest of the way.
Air Force (12-15, 6-11 MW) led New Mexico (19-9, 11-6 MW) in three-pointers made (seven) and attempted (24), steals (six) and blocks (six).
