Zeiler leads Falcons at Torrey Pines

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Freshman Ben Zeiler led the Air Force golf team in the first round of the UC San Diego Invitational, Sunday, March 22, at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, Calif.
Zeiler made four birdies on the day en route to a one-under-par 71. The round was Zeiler's fourth at or below par in 13 rounds this season. Junior Eli Huntington shot an even-par 72, including an eagle on the par-5, 520-yard 17th hole. Carson Baker (74), Grant Samuelson (76) and Eric Liveringhouse (78). Ted Davenport (72) and Brooks Morrell (81) competed as individuals.
Air Force sits in eighth place in the 17-team field after an opening round 293 (+5). Loyola Marymount leads the tournament with an opening round 279 (-9). UC Santa Barbara is second (280) and UC San Diego, the host school, is third (284).
The second round begins at 1 pm PT on Monday, March 23, at Torrey Pines.
