
Air Force Battles Nevada In 74-59 Setback

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball fell (3-28, 0-20 MW) to Nevada (20-11, 12-8 MW), 74-59, in Mountain West action Saturday night at Lawlor Events Center. Freshman Kam Sanders led four Falcons in double figures with 14 points.
Nevada shot 48 percent from the field and out-rebounded Air Force 41-22. Air Force, which made 14 three's in the first meeting, was held to just two three's on the night, both coming from freshman Ethan Greenberg.
The Wolf Pack had four in double figures scoring, led by Corey Camper Jr., who scored 18 points.
Nevada opened by scoring the first 12 points of the game to take a double-digit lead just minutes into the game. Air Force out-scored the Wolf Pack 25-20 the rest of the half to pull to within seven at 32-25. The Falcons got back into the game by forcing five steals and taking good care of the ball, committing just two turnovers in the opening half.
Nevada took control of the game early in the second half. After Air Force opened the half with a point, Nevada went on a 9-0 run to go up double-digits. The Falcons were unable to get to within 14 the rest of the game.
Air Force had a balanced scoring attack with four in double figures for the first time in a MW game. In addition to his 14 points, Sanders led the Falcons with three assists and three steals. Junior forward Kolby Gilles scored a career-high 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 from the line.
Sophomore forward Eli Robinson scored 12 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting. Junior forward Caleb Walker added 10 points and team-high six rebounds.
Air Force scored 46 points in the paint, its most in a MW game and most since the IU Indy game.
Air Force returns to action at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, held March 11-14 in Las Vegas. Air Force, as the 12-seed, takes on the five-seed (TBA) on Wednesday, March 11 at 2:30 pm PT at Thomas & Mack Center.
