Air Force Women's Hoops Takes on Army, Wednesday

Air Force women's basketball will tip off against Army, Wednesday, at 5 p.m. ET
AIR FORCE AT ARMY: Air Force and Army are slated for a 5 p.m. tip-off at Christl Arena, Wednesday, Nov. 21, in West Point, N.Y.
SERIES HISTORY:
-The Falcons and Black Knights will be meeting for the 19th time
-Army leads the all-time series, 11-7
-Air Force is 2-6 when playing at Army
-The last time Air Force beat Army at home was on Nov. 23, 2007. AF won, 68-60
-The series began in 1985
-Army won the last meeting, 65-59, at USAFA
THE COACHES:
Air Force: Chris Gobrecht (USC `77)
- Led the 2017-18 team that yielded six new individual school records including the program's first-ever Mountain West Freshman of the Year in Kaelin Immel, who set four program-records highlighted by the most-ever points scored by an Air Force freshman in the Div. I era.
- Has an overall career record of 555-554 (.500) entering the fifth game of her 39th season.
- Is 13-81 since winning her first season-opener since taking the helm of Air Force.
Army West Point: Dave Magarity (St. Francis '74)
-Magarity enters his 13th season as head coach at Army in 2018-19 and his 14th overall at the Academy after serving as associate head coach in 2005-06. Magarity was introduced as the program's eighth head coach in April 2006.
-Magarity helped Army post a program-best sixth consecutive winning season in 2017-18 to pair with a Patriot League Tournament victory. It was the 10th postseason win while under his watch and the fifth straight year that the squad made a semifinal round appearance. He also set a major milestone, coaching in his 1,000th career game.
UP NEXT: The Falcons travel to Boston, Mass., to take on Northeastern, Saturday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. ET. The game will mark the first meeting between the teams.
LAST WEEK: Twelve Falcons scored 85 points to beat Fairleigh Dickinson, 85-37, in what became Air Force's largest margin of victory in the program's Division I era. The last time Air Force won by such a large margin was against San Diego State in the 2005-06 season where the Falcons beat the Aztecs, 74-45. Air Force improves to 2-2 as they prepare to hit the road for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Junior forward Kassady Huffman led the squad with her second-straight double-double this season, scoring 10 points and snagging 11 rebounds on the night. Sophomore guard Emily Conroe shot over 50-percent from the field to lead the team with 16 points. Conroe also tallied seven rebounds, three steals and a block on the night.
AIR FORCE AT A GLANCE: Kaelin Immel leads the squad with 45 points, averaging 15 ppg. She had a season-high 25-point performance against Western Colorado, Nov. 6. The Beaverton, Oregon, native is also second on the team with seven three-pointers for a .538 3fg-percentage. She did not play against Fairleigh Dickinson.
Sophomore guard Emily Conroe is finding her rhythm, notching her second-straight double-digit performance in Friday's game against FDU, including a season-high 16-point performance coupled with three steals and a block. She's averaging 10.8 ppg and has the second-most points (43) and steals (9) on the team.
Kassady Huffman is force to be reckoned with in the paint. Huffman, who was on pace to shatter program blocking records as a freshman, leads the team with 12 blocks while averaging nine ppg. She leads the team with 39 rebounds, 19 offensive and 20 defensive.
The Falcon freshmen have made impressive contributions early on, led by Briana Autrey who averages 10 ppg and leads the team with 11 steals and 10 assists. Autrey registered a career best 19 points against George Mason. Autrey is joined by freshmen teammates Riley Snyder and Haley Jones. Snyder, who has started in every contest this season, leads the team with eight three-pointers for a .667 3fg%. Snyder, along with veterans Immel and Huffman, have posted three double-digit scoring performances this season. Snyder's highlight performance was against George Mason where she went 4-5 from down range to score a career-high 12 points. Jones averages eight ppg and has wrangled in 22 boards this season.
A LOOK AT THE BLACK KNIGHTS: Army takes the court at 1-2 on the season, coming off a 60-49 loss to St. John's. Madison Hovern leads the squad with a 14.7 ppg average and 11.3 rpg. Jess Lewis leads the team with 34 assists while the Black Knights only have one block recorded on the season.
ARMY'S LAST TWO GAMES:
vs. St. John's, 11/16: Army opened the home slate against St. John's and came up short by a 60-49 score on Friday night. The Black Knights were led by team captain Jess Lewis who scored 16 points and was 3-for-4 from beyond-the-arc. Madison Hovren finished with her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
at Columbia, 11/12: The Black Knights moved to 1-1 on the year and were led by Kate Murray, who recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Madison Hovren added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Maddie Allen chipped in eight points and six rebounds. The Lions are 2-0 to start the year thanks to 21 points from Sienna Durr, who was 10-of-17 from the field, and registered a team-high seven rebounds.
