
Luke Piper, Liz Jarvis Nab Titles in Outdoor Opener

BOULDER, Colo. – Senior Luke Piper and junior Liz Jarvis captured event titles in the javelin throw, as 11 members of the Air Force track and field team opened the outdoor portion of the season this afternoon (March 16) at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder.
Piper registered a throw of 194'5" to win the first event of the outdoor season and pace Air Force to the top-five marks in the men's event, while Jarvis led the women to a one-two finish following a distance of 131'5". Junior Logan Feasline and sophomore Parker Spearman finished second (career-best 193'1") and third (debut 185'2"), respectively, while senior Calvin Berstler (fourth, career-best 160'11") and freshman Peyton Spires (fifth, debut 157'6") rounded out the men's finishers, and sophomore Sierra Rodriguez joined Jarvis at the top of the women's lineup with a second-place distance of 124'2".
Sophomore Anthony Davis (career-best 44'2½") and junior Andrea Abel (37'10") earned runner-up finishes in the men's and women's triple jump, while freshman Trey Guillory finished third in the men's event with an outdoor debut of 42'5¼". Freshman Donna Borer was the Falcons' top finisher in the hammer throw, as she made her outdoor debut with a third-place throw of 137'8¼", and Rodriguez added a throw of 118'0" to finish fourth.
The Falcons return to Potts Field tomorrow (March 17) for the second day of competition at the Jerry Quiller Classic. The remainder of the field events, and all running events, get underway at 11:00 a.m. MT.
