
Falcons travel to Fighting Illini Invitational

Air Force competes in premier tournament, Sept. 14-16, in Olympia Fields, Ill.
THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team will compete in one of the premier college golf tournaments in the country at the 13th annual Fighting Illini Invitational at the Olympia Fields Country Club, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 14-16, in Olympia Fields, Ill. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. CT each day.
ABOUT THE FIELD: Ten of the 14 teams in the field are ranked in the top 25 with two others receiving votes. The only two teams in the field not ranked, or receiving votes, are Air Force and Indiana. Teams competing, with their national ranking in parenthesis, are : Air Force, Alabama (2), Baylor (14),
California (T11), Florida State (25), Illinois (16), Indiana, UNLV (23), Oklahoma State (1), Purdue (RV), USC (20), South Carolina (RV), Stanford (T12) and Texas A&M (4).
ABOUT OLYMPIA FIELDS: The famed Olympia Fields Country Clubs is a par 70 and plays over 7,353 yards. The club is home to several premier events including the 2015 U.S. Amateur. Olympia Fields has hosted two U.S. Opens (1926 and 2003), two Men's PGA Championships (1925 and 1961), a U.S. Senior Open (1997), a Women's PGA Championship (2017) and five Western Opens.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons posted their best finish in five seasons at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sept. 7-9, at the Eisenhower Blue Course. Air Force shot a two-under 286 in the final round to finish in fourth place with a three-round total of 862 (-2). Both the score and finish were the best since the Falcons won the tournament in 2013. Colorado won the 16-team tournament with a nine-under par 855. Junior Joseph Crisostomo fired a five-under 67, a career-best round, on Sunday and tied for sixth overall at 212 (-4) for the tournament. On Sunday, he shot a 32 on the back nine that included a birdie on the 18th hole, after nearly holing out from 127 yards.Air Force senior Andy Germann and junior Josh Wu tied for 17th overall with a three-round total of 216 (even). Senior Turner Howe shot 220 and fellow senior Tate Tatom came in at 221. Freshman Luke Trujillo, competing as an individual, shot a 217 (+1). Junior Anson Kuznik and freshman Colter Baca came in at 224, while freshman Jonathan Farmer shot 233.
