LAST GAME
Air Force dropped a 72-56 contest to the Portland Pilots, Saturday afternoon in Clune Arena, USAFA. The Falcons, now on a four-game losing streak, dropped to 1-5 on the season.
Junior co-team captain Kaelin Immel paced the Falcons with 19 points, marking her second-straight game to lead Air Force in scoring. Immel rounded out her stat line with two steals and two assists.
The Falcons drained 22-25 free throw attempts as a team, setting a new standard for most free throws made in a single game this season. Riley Snyder, Allyah Marlett and Nikki McDonald all shot perfect from the free throw line, while Immel and junior teammate Emily Conroe others shot over 80-percent at the line, bringing the team's free throw percentage to 88-percent on the game. Air Force also connected on six three-balls, setting a season-high mark for the squad beyond the arc.
IMMEL SETS THE STANDARD
Junior co-team captain Kaelin Immel scored a season-high 23 points in the Falcons' game against Northern Colorado, marking Air Force's highest scoring performance and only 20-point performance of the season so far. She averages 13.3 PPG this season and has led the squad in scoring in the last two games. Immel continues to climb the all-time career points ladder with 928 points scored to date, a mark that puts her ninth in the Div. I era and 21st in the all-time record book. Immel is on track to be the 16th 1,000-point scorer in the all-time record book.
SNYDER SCORES
Sophomore forward Riley Snyder was the Falcons' leading scorer up until last game where Immel overtook the top spot. Through the first five games she averaged 14.0 PPG, but a stale four-point performance against Portland dropped her to 12.3 PPG. The native of Fruita, Colorado, has led Air Force in scoring in three games this season, scoring a season-high 19 against NJIT (Nov. 8), 13 against Army (Nov. 13) and 18 against San Diego (Nov. 16). Snyder makes her money at the free throw line where she is currently shooting .895 (17-19) this season, highlighted by four perfect games at the line. She has the third-best free throw shooting-percentage in the MWC.
ON THE CUSP
Emily Conroe has consistently displayed her all-around utility as the team's top rebounder and second-leading scorer. Conroe averages 10.7 PPG and 8.2 RPG. She has been on the cusp of a double-double in all games but one this season. In the season opener, the junior co-team captain dropped 12 points and collected eight boards. In the game against NJIT, she was a bucket away from a double-double mark (8 points, 10 rebounds).
