Air Force earned first conference win of season at FPU
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Grant Snyder scored four goals as the Air Force water polo team defeated Fresno Pacific, 15-9, in a Western Water Polo Association game, Friday, Nov. 8, in Fresno, Calif.
Trailing 1-0 in the first quarter, Campbell Harris, Sam Fuller and Corey Tanis gave the Falcons a 3-1 lead at 2:25. Sebastian Sak scored late in the first and Harris scored early in the second for a 5-2 lead. Air Force closed out the second quarter with four straight goals, one by Mike Miller and three by Snyder for a 10-4 lead at the half.
FPU outscored Air Force, 4-1, in the third period as the Falcons led 11-8 entering the final quarter. The Falcons scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter as Gavin Jones, Snyder and Miller all found the back of the net. After a Sunbird goal, Sak rounded out the scoring with his second of the game with 1:46 remaining.
In addition to Snyder's four goals, which tie a career high, Miller, Harris and Sak each scored two. Ian Shepherd led the Falcons with two assists. Anthony Tolbert made eight saves.
Air Force (10-15 overall and 1-5 WWPA) closes out the regular season with a conference game at Santa Clara, Sunday, Nov. 10.
