
Women’s Gymnastics Wins Second Place at Senior Night Quad

Anna Salamone led Air Force women’s gymnastics with a second place finish on the uneven parallel bars
USAF Academy, Colo. - Air Force posted a season-high 194.775 team score to finish second out of four teams in the Senior Night quad, Saturday evening in Cadet West Gym, USAFA. Brigham Young University led the field with a 196.425 team score while Seattle Pacific (190.500) and Springfield College (185.775) finished third and fourth, respectively.
Sophomore uneven parallel bars specialist Anna Salamone led all Falcons with a second-place finish, setting a season-best 9.900 mark in the event. Senior teammate Mariana Murphy finished tied for fourth in the same event, also setting a season-high 9.825. Brittney Reed (9.675) and Cam Barber (9.550) set personal season-best marks in the event. The Falcons finished second in the event with a season-high 48.500 mark.
On the floor exercise, Tyler Davis led Air Force with a 9.850 mark to tie her season-best mark. Senior teammate Riley Hill finished tied for fifth, also tying her season-best mark of 9.800. Reed (9.750) and Brooke Bruder (9.725) set season-high marks while freshman Natalie Meyer tied her personal best score of 9.700. Air Force finished second on the event with a 48.825 mark.
Air Force set a season-high team score in the vault (48.900), placing four gymnasts in the top-seven for a second-place team finish in the event. Salamone and Daija Stevenson tied for fourth with 9.825 marks, tying a season-high for Salamone and setting a career-best for Stevenson. Heidi Sand finished sixth with a 9.800 and Davis tied her personal-best mark with a 9.775.
Senior Emily Luers had the best finish for the Falcons on the beam, posting a 9.775 mark to finish fourth while tying a personal season-high. Senior teammate Mariana Murphy finished tied for fifth with a 9.750. As a team, the Falcons recorded a 48.550 mark.
Davis, Air Force's lone all-arounder, finished third in the field with a 38.875 mark.
The quad marked the Falcons' final home event of the season and Senior Night for five cadets. Seniors Riley Hill, Analise Howard, Emily Luers, Mariana Murphy and Brittney Reed were honored at the conclusion of the event.
The Falcons travel to Seattle, Washington, to take on UW-Oshkosh and Seattle Pacific University, 7 p.m. PT/8 MT, Friday, Feb. 15, at Brougham Pavilion. The event will mark the third meeting with Seattle Pacific.
