IN THE DOLDRUMS:
Following a loss to Nevada, March 4, Air Force is on a eight-game losing streak and finialized the road-slate with a 1-14 mark. The Falcons are winless against MWC opponents on the road and haven't won a game since January 30th.
TOURNAMENT SCENARIO:
Air Force (4-13 MWC) and San Jose State (4-13 MWC) are competing for the ninth-seed in the conference tournament. The Spartans will be taking on Fresno State (11-6 MWC), Thursday evening. If one team wins and the other loses, the winner will take the No. 9 seed via conference standing. If Air Force and San Jose State win together, or lose together, San Jose State will take the No. 9 seed by way of a win over Utah State, who swept Air Force in the regular season.
The No. 9 seed is slated to play the No. 8 seed on Monday at 2 p.m. PT, while the No. 10 seed will play the No. 7 seed the same day at 4:30 p.m. PT. Nevada (7-10 MWC) and San Diego State (6-11 MWC) will play each other in their regular season finale in competition for the No. 7 seed. Air Force will play either Nevada or San Diego State regardless of the regular season finish. Air Force is split 1-1 with both of those teams this season. Boise State has clinched the No. 1 seed while Colorado State has clinched the No. 11 seed.
AIR FORCE AT A GLANCE:
Three Falcons have three double-figure scoring averages in conference play, led by Kaelin Immel, who registered a career-high 30-point game in the win against San Jose State (Jan. 26). Immel, who averages 14.4 points per game in MWC play, has 19 double-figure scoring performances this year, five of which were in the last five games. She shoots .326 from deep and .359 from the field.
Emily Conroe, a 5-10 sophomore guard, has stepped up as the team's leading rebounder (6.1 rpg/ 6.6 rpg in MWC), is ninth in the Mountain West in collecting boards, since losing Kassady Huffman to a knee injury. Not only is she one of the lead rebounding guards in the conference, she is sixth in the MWC with 1.7 steals per game. Conroe has proven her utility on both sides of the ball with her defensive accolades and 16 double-figure scoring performances highlighted by a 22-point showing in Air Force's first win over Colorado State in 13 games. She led the Falcons in scoring in the three of the last four games. She has the highest shooting percentage on the team (.402)
A trio of freshmen help make up the Falcons' top-five leading scorers. Riley Snyder, a six-foot forward, averages 10.6 points per game in league play this season and has 13 double-figure scoring marks highlighted by two 20-point games. Freshman Briana Autrey has the squad's second-highest field goal shooting percentage (.391), but is still learning how to manage the ball at the collegiate level, as she turns the ball over 4.1 times per game. Autrey's offensive productivity outshines her turnovers as she is one-of-two players to have three 20-point performances this season, averaging 9.4 points per game. Haley Jones, a six-foot guard, has become a force for the Falcons in MWC play, averaging 7.0 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game in league play.
