Falcons travel to RIT for AHA Quarterfinals

Air Force and RIT meet in best of three series, March 13-15, in Rochester, N.Y.
This Week - Air Force (12-18-6, 10-12-6 AHA) travels to Rochester, N.Y., for an Atlantic Hockey quarterfinal series against the RIT Tigers (19-13-4, 15-9-4 AHA), Friday-Saturday, March 13-14, and Sunday, March 15, if necessary. All game times are 7:05 pm ET.
Air Force is the No. 6 seed while RIT is No. 3.

Playoff Picture - AIC won the regular-season title for the second straight season. Sacred Heart placed second while RIT was third, Army was fourth and Niagara was fifth. All had byes in the first round. Niagara will play a quarterfinal series at Army
In the AHA first-round games, all three higher seeds won.

No. 1 seed AIC will host No. 8 Bentley while No. 2 seed Sacred Heart will host No. 7 RMU.
Scouting RIT - RIT finished third in the conference with a 19-13-4 overall record and a 15-9-4 league mark. RIT is 8-3-1 in its last 12 games. The Tigers had a bye in the first round. Their last games came Feb. 28-29 when the Tigers spilt a two-game series with Air Force. Senior Shawn Cameron leads the team with 18 goals and 29 points. Junior Logan Drackett has started nearly every game in goal and has a 2.75 GAA and a .907 saves percentage.
Series vs. RIT - Air Force leads the all-time series vs. RIT, 33-24-4. The teams have met four times this season and RIT took nine of the 12 points. RIT swept Air Force, 2-1 and 1-0, in a series at the Academy, Oct. 24-25. The teams split the series at RIT, Feb. 28-29, with AF winning the first game, 3-0 and RIT winning game two, 5-3. Air Force has won 10 of the last 14, including seven of the last eight at RIT.
Both Air Force and RIT joined Atlantic Hockey in 2006 and, since then, the teams have played 52 times in league play. Air Force leads in AHA games 29-20-3. In the history of the series, 47 of the 61 games (77 percent) have been decided by two goals or less with 15 games going into overtime.
The teams have met six times in the playoffs, and each team has won three. RIT ended Air Force's season in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Prior to that, Air Force had beaten RIT three times in the playoffs, the 2008 semifinals and the 2011 and 2012 championship games. RIT and Air Force have combined to win 10 of the last 13 tournament titles. Air Force won it in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2017 and 2018. RIT won it in 2010, 2015 and 2016. Canisius won it 2013, Robert Morris won it in 2014 and AIC won it in 2019.
