Falcons Host Top-Ranked Stanford on Saturday Afternoon

The 1:00 p.m (MT) triangular meet will also include the Rocky Mountain Pride club team.
The 16th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team returns to the Academy this weekend, when it hosts top-ranked Stanford and members from the Rocky Mountain Pride on Saturday, March 7. Admission is free to the 1:00 p.m. (MT) meet, which marks the Falcons' first competition at Cadet West Gym in more than a month.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Stanford, the defending national champion, currently leads the NCAA with a three-score average of 417.217 – a four-point improvement over the rest of the country. The Cardinal, who have broken the 420-point mark twice this season, also hold the top three-score marks on the still rings (69.983), vault (73.517) and parallel bars (70.850). In addition, Stanford boasts three of the nation's top four gymnasts in the all-around, four of the top six gymnasts on the vault and three of the top five gymnasts on the parallel bars. Competing in just their third meet, the club team from Rocky Mountain Pride has a two-meet average of 312.300.
AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
The Falcons are currently ranked 16th in the NCAA, with a three-score average of 384.833. Air Force is ranked among the nation's top 15 on the pommel horse (11th, 64.167), still rings (12th, 64.950) and parallel bars (14th, 64.133). Individually, Frankie Valentin holds the squad's highest national ranking with a No. 21 standing on the pommel horse (13.683), while Ethan Esval is listed among the top 40 on the still rings (37th, 13.500).
FALCONS NAB TWO VICTORIES AT ARMY WEST POINT
Ethan Esval (still rings, 13.800) and Frankie Valentin (pommel horse, 13.750) captured first-place finishes during a 395.950-385.100 road loss to Army West Point on Feb. 29. Esval paced the Falcons to three of the top-five marks on the rings, while Valentin led Air Force to a one-two finish on the horse.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force closes out the regular season next Saturday (March 14), when it travels to Oklahoma to face the Sooners at 3:00 p.m. (CT).
