Women's Gymnastics Takes on Cal, January 30

Air Force travels to Berkley, California, to take on Cal in head-to-head action on Saturday, January 30. Events are set to begin at 2 p.m. PT in Haas Pavilion.
UP NEXT
The Falcons travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to compete in tri-meet action at Centenary College with Texas Woman's University, Sunday (Feb. 7). Action in the Gold Dome is slated for 4 p.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force came up short in head-to-head action at 7th-ranked University of Denver, 197.000-192.225, Sunday afternoon (Jan. 24) in Hamilton Gymnasium, Denver. The Falcons posted season-high team scores in all events.
"We are moving in the right direction," head coach Jennifer Green said. "I am proud of their fight throughout the meet. It was different competing without fans but our team stayed together and kept our focus on each other."
Air Force's Daija Stevenson and Heidi Sand competed in all four events for the Falcons, totaling a 38.850 and 37.225, respectively. Stevenson scored her best results on the vault and beam (9.750) while Sand was Air Force's top-performer on the floor exercise (9.775).
Air Force had its best night on the vault with a 48.225 team score. Stevenson, along with teammate Chloe Camello, scored personal season-high marks in the event with a 9.750 and 9.700, respectively. Stevenson and senior teammate Cam Barber led Air Force on the uneven bars with a 9.700 apiece.
Briona Carswell, the Falcons' leading beam specialist scored a team high 9.825 on the event, setting a season-high mark and falling just shy of her career-best 9.900. Barber's highest score of the meet was on the beam where she posted a 9.750.
Denver has three gymnasts score above 39.000 in the all-around, led by Lynnzee Brown's 39.400. The Pioneer's top individual score was 9.975 scored on two occasions; Rylie Mundell (UB) and Alexis Vasquez (BB). Denver's top team score was on the beam (49.450).
AIR FORCE SWEEPS MPSF HONORS... AGAIN
Air Force's Daija Stevenson and Cam Barber have been dubbed the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Gymnast and Specialist of the Week, respectively, for action over the weekend of January 24. The awards mark the second-straight week that Air Force has claimed both honors, following Briona Carswell (specialist) and Heidi Sand's (gymnast) weekly honor for competition over the weekend of January 19.
