Air Force Falls at Utah Valley, 3-0

OREM – A second-half surge lifted Utah Valley to a 3-0 win over Air Force, Thursday afternoon, at Clyde Field. The Falcons drop to 8-6-1 overall with a 7-2 mark in the conference while UVU improved to 8-4-2 with a 5-3 mark in the WAC.
It took over an hour before either team scored, but less than 15 minutes to create a three-nil cushion. Utah Valley's Alejandro Silva scored in the 65th minute followed up by a PK from Aaron Nixon. Falcon goalie Kainoa Likewise deflected the poor first attempt but was unable to wrangle the ball before Nixon charged forth to finish the job.
The dagger came in the 77th minute as Carter Johnson finished via touches from Jojea Kwizera and Evans Armah. Despite the scoring disparity, Kainoa Likewise defended well, recording four saves on the match.
Air Force had no shortage of opportunities but was overall unlucky on the close attempts. The Falcons put up just five shots, one on goal, while UVU tallied 21 total shots, seven on frame. Air Force senior Lathan Spadafora led the squad with a pair of shots, one of which was on target.
Next up, Air Force heads to Irvine, California, to take on California Baptist at Championship Stadium in OC Great Park. The Falcons' road-slate finale is slated to begin at 7 p.m. PT.
