Runners Wrap up Action at Potts Invitational

Brid O'Connell debuted in sixth on the Academy's all-time standings of the 400-meter dash.
BOULDER, Colo. – Highlighted by senior Brid O'Connell clocking the sixth-fastest 400-meter time in Air Force women's history, a small contingent of the runners wrapped up competition at the Potts Indoor Invitational this afternoon (Jan. 15) in Boulder. O'Connell was one of 11 top-five finishes for the Falcons at Colorado's Indoor Practice Facility.

Women's 400-Meter Dash: Brid O'Connell. 56.73 (No. 6 all-time)
O'Connell, who clocked the sixth-fastest 800-meter time in her season debut last month, added her name to the same spot in the Falcons' 400-meter all-time standings, as she raced to a runner-up time of 56.73. The senior paced Air Force to two of the top-three places in that race, as freshman Taylor Rioux added a time of 58.22 – the 19th-fastest time in Air Force history – to place third in her event debut. The pair also ran the first two legs of the 4x400-meter relay (with sophomores Zoe Iwu, Amanda Fraga) that clocked a time of 3:58.38 to win the event and debut in 17th on the program's all-time standings.
Like the women, the men also posted a 2-3 finish in the 400-meter dash, as seniors La'akea Aiu and Sean Geither clocked times of earned those placements with respective times of 49.16 (career-best) and 49.42. Teaming up with classmate Charles Dimnwaobi and freshman Darek Hackett, Aiu and Geither also ran on the 4x400-meter relay that finished second in 3:17.25. Dimnwaobi added a top-three mark of his own, as he clocked the 16th-fastest time in program history (21.74) to finish third.
The Falcons claimed a pair of top-five finishes in the 60-meter hurdles, as junior Cameron Harris and sophomore Philip Hundl finished third (8.15) and fourth (career-best 8.20), respectively. Junior Zac Larrier, competing in his first indoor meet, rounded out Air Force's list of top-five finishers, as he clocked a 60-meter time of 6.92 to place fourth.
Larrier matched the 25th-fastest 200-meter time (22.01) in Air Force history later in the day, while sophomores Katie Thompson (19th-fastest 200-meter dash, 26.20) and Rayna Fruchey (25th-fastest 3000-meter run, 10:06.89 adjusted for altitude) also impacted the women's extended Record Book on Saturday.
The Falcons return to the Academy next week to host the annual Air Force Invitational on Jan. 20-22.
